Title: Shots hurting a hell of a lot more because...

I started using 3 mL syringes as opposed to 1 mL. It was all the pharmacy had.
Because the syringe is 3x wider, it injects 3x the amount of liquid when injected at the same speed as the 1 mL. Hopefully that makes sense; I don't really know how else to explain it. Anyway, the result of this is that the site is sore for a few days afterwards. I never had this at all with the 1 mL though (which I'd been using for over a year).
I try to inject 3x slower than I usually would, but that is difficult because it seems like the plunger isn't moving at all since it's so slow... so I get bored and push it faster.
My point is this. If you're wondering why your shots are hurting afterwards or want to avoid it, consider downsizing the syringe. An observation.

Yeah, I started with 3mL (just what the pharmacy gave me), then was sent 1mL syringes with my T after about 2 years of using 3mL... The 1mL syringes are a lot more accurate for dosing and are easier to inject with.
However, I was able to inject with 3mL without my leg getting sore. But I did have to deliberately inject very, very slowly. It does seem like the plunger is hardly moving, but the liquid is indeed being injected. Trying to push it faster is just asking for a sore leg.

Good point. Could you try looking for 1mL syringes online or at another pharmacy?

Yup, when this supply runs out (I bought 20) I'm switching back. The thing is that the pharmacies around here never have every size of needle/syringe in stock. They always just have random sizes available, so it's kind of a gamble every time you go in and ask what they have. So frusterating. But yeah I'll find 'em soon enough.

I really don't think that syringe size 3mL vs 1mL would make a difference with regards to the shot. I always use 3mL syringes and my shot site never hurts, is sore sometimes, most times not. I think needle thickness has all to do with it.

I've been using 23g the entire time. The only factor which changed and made this difference was the syringe size.
Do you get what I'm saying? If you're injecting the same amount of fluid at the same speed with both sizes, it is going to take you 3 times longer to inject it with the 1mL syringe. How would this, the speed of the injection, not be a factor in the soreness afterwards?
