I have been on hrt for 1yr 6 months now.  Since being on spiro I have had the fun on drinking a ton so as not to get dehydrated a constant battle.  Recently though about 3 months ago my hair became super dry to the point I couldn't do anything with it. My hair would not get oily at all as if my oil glands are gone.  I have used excessive amounts of conditioner, hot oil treatments, and heavy conditioner treatments to bade away the frizzies.  >:( My doctor said my body needs to heal and took me off of spiro and put me on avodart.

Has anybody else had this happen? Thanks for your help.

Same here, spiro and fin with no problems at all. What did he mean by your body needs to heal? Did they brun any test to see if it was something else? How long were you on spiro?

  My hair is drier and my winter water intake is not much the normal.  My house temp is set at 60 degrees F all winter.  My summer intake was much more last season that at times I was going through 3 shirts a day from the sweat, depending on workload.  I have no air conditioning and last summer was warmer and more humid than normal here.  We'll see this summer with the reduced dosage of the spiro here.

This really is something that you need to ask your doctor. Even if it is just a phone call. It's your health and you should know what's going on with your body.

In regards to oil in hair. I know that the spiro has been playing havack with my eyes. Anti-androgens interfere with the oil/ gland production in the eyes, hence you can experience dry/sore eyes.
I know hormones are important for/or rely- on oil production, but really only a qualified doctor should be answering your queries.

When I first got on spiro I noticed I peed more but after a few months, it seemed to go back to normal. I think some people over do the drinking and end up flushing out their body. I've gotten in the habit, when I pee, I drink a small glass of water to put back what I just peed out :P

I did see my doctor. I am seeing him again today.  All I know is that before hrt I had straight hair would get real oily if I missing washing it a few days on a lazy weekend. On hrt my hair is always dry and curly never is oily. Doc said spiro is the culprit, but we have been running labs to check any other possibilities. I have always hair real long hair I just do not want to have to cut because of this. :(

So if anyone experienced dry hair from spiro let me know, or if you have super dry hair what did you use to fix it?

Blocking testosterone (which is what spiro does) will cause the sebaceous glands to not become as effective (or effective at all). The sebaceous glands are responsible for giving your skin / hair that oily texture. This is why women have dry skin and men get acne (in general). Sebum (which is the oil secreted by the sebaceous glands) is what gives the hair the moisture it needs (and your skin some added protection against the sun, among other things).

I've found lotion to be an excellent fix for dry, frizzy hair. Frizzy hair is caused by dry hair, or by overly porous hair in a humid environment. Lotion will actually give the hair an even amount of moisture throughout the strand, enough so to make it more manageable. Careful not to apply too much, however, as you may wind up giving your hair an oily, greasy look.. which isn't that attractive either.

You can also invest a lil into getting a good deep conditioner. A good deep conditioner will smooth the cuticle (the outer portion of the hair that defines its porosity) a bit.

Also, stay away from products with alcohol in it. Alcohol will dry your hair out!!

  I use Argan oil on my hair and it works great! I just dab a little bit on my hand and run it through my hair after I take a shower, it leaves my hair incredibly smooth and shiny and tames the frizz. Also it helps to protect your hair from heat damage which is a plus if your straighten your hair alot like me. I also bought the argan oil shampoo & conditioner gift set when it was on sale and it's by far one of the best hair care duo's i've used so far.

Lotion what kind of  lotion?  ??? I just started the deep conditioning treatments at my salon.

Any kind of moisturizing lotion. Nothing with alcohol in it!! Also, ask them what product they're using. They're charging you a nice dollar for that service, I'd cut out the middle man if I were you!
