Title: Need Support for Transgender MTF in Youngstown Ohio

Hey all, one of the younger members here asked me to email her mom to try to explain some things. She finally emailed me back stating she had come on the site and not found the support she was needing.
The mom is struggling and looking for PARENT support and I'm pretty sure she's located in Youngstown Ohio. I could just google things but I thought it might be helpful to have people recommend things they know well.
Cheers
Mixie

What exactly is the mom looking for in terms of support? A local support group? If so, I can't help there. But, I can recommend the following book.
True Selves: Understanding Transsexualism--For Families, Friends, Coworkers, and Helping Professionals (http://www.amazon.com/True-Selves-Understanding-Transsexualism---Professionals/dp/0787967025/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330115728&sr=8-1)
The book is aimed at non-trans persons and I think does a good job explaining things.

Well when I was a teenager and came out to my grandmother she really didn't understand so I downloaded the book "Mom, I need to be a girl" printed it out and gave it to her to read and it helped alot. She really got into the book and said it moved her to tears, hope that helps.
Mixie I think it's great you took the time to help this girl and her mother. I noticed you help alot of t-girls here and I think that's awesome, not many cisgender women come on here and give advice.
