Title: What a difference HRT method can make
Post by: Plain Jane on February 27, 2012, 10:23:13 AM
In October 2010 my doctor switched from oral HRT (which I had been on since October 1992) to transdermal patches. As I have said somewhere here before, I like the patches much better.

This weekend (when I couldn't get on Susan's from the Netherlands) it struck me that when I was on oral (for about 18 years) I was a cup size A, maybe bordering B. After switching to the patches I definitely had to go to a cup B bra. Now I think I may have to go to a C. With pretty much the same dosage (should be, blood level tested). I'm not complaining of course! It just strikes me that the type of HRT delivery can make such a difference from one person to the next.

My skin changed almost instantly after starting injections, and my right breast filled out to match the left in almost a week. If you could feel their pain after I eat now, you'd be amazed.

so u girls believe that patches or injections r more effective than orals?
i heard I've seen girls saying in other posts that under the tongue pills
is the most effective method. it's so confusing  :-\
i have to decide which method I'll choose before seeing my Dr next week.

under the tongue can be at best just as effective, but not always... I said on that thread that yet another thread indicated that pills can give up to 80% from under the tongue, like patches... the other old thread also said IIRC that injections can give upwards of 99% effectiveness.... but all of it varies individually and the Dr should know best.

I agree that there probably is no single best method for everybody. What works for one person might not for someone else, since each person's body chemistry is different. In my case, I swear by patches but for someone else that might not work well at all.
