Hi everyone, I just had a question and I was wondering if you could share some experiences. I am currently scheduled for surgery with Dr. Brassard in 4 months, but I also started a new job just this week. I could probably take about 10 days off work (my sick leave for the year), but I don't know if I could take any more than that since the job is so new and there isn't anything in my contract about short term disability (and from what I can tell they are not required to give me much time off for disability since I am a new employee). So I am not sure if I should be delaying surgery or not.
So I was just wondering how long do you think it would take until I was able to work from home? Is this something I could do after the first week or will I need more recovery time? And just because I am wondering for my own curiosity how long does it take until you can walk relatively normally? I recognize that everyone is different I am just looking for a general idea.

You need answers from Brassard patients so that you are evaluating the same technique - even then, the problems and the healing vary from person to person.
I had my op in the UK by Mr Bellringer. (simple inversion)
I was on my feet the day after the op and walking about a bit....... 4 to 6 inch steps LOL and tiring quickly.
By the end of the week after the op, I was walking reasonably well, but very carefully.
I took it easy for another week, gradually walking more.
NO LIFTING OF ANYTHING
probably a month before I could walk fairly normally

I had a very invasive colovaginoplasty and walked up around the train stations on way home 8 days later and six days later I walked down to the bus stop and round town shopping and paying bills.
plus I'm no spring chicken.
you don't say where you are so what your new boss will say about time off is for you to find out.
I work in hospital office and we haev rpoblems with people on regular sickness or long term sickness who want to keep their jobs but the hopsital has ot have staff to do the work so in the end each case is a toss-up and sometime the sick person loses their job in the interests of providing service.
