Post by: janis on March 02, 2012, 06:20:32 PM

   Hi.
I would like to give a update on what is going on with me / I been seeing my therapist
and she said I would feel much better if I start taking hormones// So I ask her for a
letter which she approved// I went to the Doctor this week and said I should have a physical
So at the end of this month hopefully, everything will Be alright// So I should start soon//
It's been 67yrs living in the wrong body//
  Please wish me luck,
  Janis

Hi Janis,
Welcome to Susan's. Just goes to prove, it's never too late. Even at a young 67 this journey can reveal some wonderful aspects of yourself.

Hope the physical goes well and you are able to achieve some peace and serenity from your HRT programme.

Keep in touch and let us know how you are coping. In the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Janis,

Outstanding, transition at 67, you have blown me away! You must be excited, I am sure I would be.

I sometimes think about transition, but I don't want to mess with my health which is good at a few years older than you. I take some light medication to keep a minor lung condition at bay.

Respect and Best wishes on your new journey.
Hugs
Jamie

Hi Janis,
Depending on your Endo and results of your bloodworks, plus a whole heap of other medical aspects, your Endo may start you on a low dose, see how your body handles it and then increase the doseage. I would be inclined to think, given your age, your Endo wouldn't start you on injections. Could be too much of a toxic shock to introduce so early. I would think patch, transdermal, sublingual or last resort, oral, the choices he has available.

Therefore, initally, you may not feel any great sensation at all. You may end up feeling a few little 'weird' feelings you haven't felt before. It can take in excess of two years or more to achieve the full effect of HRT.

Some things you should be aware of that may happen; apart from the side effects listed against the particular medication you are offered; is pain in the chest area, as the breast commence to grow, and your ways of thinking and perhaps outlook on lifes' issues may change. These are just some of the changes, HRT can bring.

Let us know how it goes and how you are coping.

Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Hi Janis,

Good to hear things are moving forward for you. Yeah, after a 34 year relationship can be a bit hard  to work through. Yours was a year longer than mine.

I hope prayer works for you. If it doesn't produce the results you are looking for, plan B, asking your Doctor to recommend a good TG therapist may be a good option to help you make sense of it all.

Keep up the good work, and be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Hi Janis,

It's a pleasure to be here for you. It's what family is all about. Particularly this one. Good to hear everything is going well for you after your Drs. visit.

I did have strong Christian beliefs once, but tired of the consistent one way conversation without feedback, that why I chose a good therapist. He has helped me unlock more aspects of me than I can poke a stick at.

Keep strong and you'll get through this.

Huggs
