Title: STP sadness :(
Post by: Konnor on March 07, 2012, 05:43:17 PM
I was so dang excited for my new STP to come, and it was definitely a letdown. I got the "surge" STP from Tranzwear, which is made with the "go-girl" funnel thing. I have the go-girl and have been using it without the packer part to pee with. It didn't occur to me that when wearing clothes, it would become to flimsy to pee with. The way you have to position it in order to catch the pee is too low for use with jeans as well. Combine that with the fact that the funnel is hard to position out of the way anywhere when you're just trying to pack, and I'm not very happy with my purchase. I guess I should be thankful that I only paid 70 bucks for it, but I'm still disappointed. Has anyone else had any luck with this one?

I'm sorry to hear that Konnor, though I do doubt there's anyone out there that can actually make that stp work with clothing and without making it look rather weird.

Now that you do have the packer with the hole and some good tubing, you might want to 'wreck' it and build your own with either a spoon, nipple or maybe the whiz freedom. (though I still find it hard to believe that pack and peeing with the whiz is really possible.. it's sort of a stiffer version of a go-girl)

I'm actually getting the hang of the medicine spoon now. (after a long long time of trying every time I took a shower) I just can't use it yet cause it's a whole different matter to use it with a packer in front of it.  ;)

Thanks Nathan, that was kind of what I feared...that no one will be able to use this thing properly. The funnel is just too darn flimsy. I'm not really comfortable using the med spoon because the less I have to do with my downstairs, the better. But I'll look into the nipple and whiz freedom and maybe I can make the packer/tubing work with something else. Good luck with using your STP  :)

Konnor-I had the exact same problem with the exact same STP. Only my attitude wasn't "I only paid 70$ for it" but rather "->-bleeped-<-! I paid 70$ for that thing!" lol.

My favorite--while it is not a packer/ STP is the pstyle. Hard plastic. Twelve bucks. One handed-pee-done.

I had a STP/Packer with the Whiz Freedom and was very disappointed in it. It is firmer than the go-girl but is still pretty flimsy. The angle you have to hold it as is far too low to accomplish while wearing pants (for me at least).

I had great success with the Whiz first time out of the box--when I was in my underwear only. Didn't have success in jeans, but I stopped practicing because I couldn't get the thing to look natural as a packer.

I have a medicine spoon that I haven't carved up yet. Don't know if I ever will. I'm lazy.

Haven't tried a nipple.

Haven't tried non-packer options, although I used to use a salsa lid many, many years ago. It worked okay, the excess pee shook right off, and I could slip the lid into my pocket. The P-style and other devices look too damned big. If I can't have a good packer STP, I want something small and discreet.

Yeah the Pstyle is probably like 5 inches long. I can fit it in my pocket though or I have my messenger bag nearly all the time. The coffee can / yogurt container lid works well for me & fits super easily in a back pocket. Gotta love the DIY methods :)

Weird. I always epically failed when I tried to use this methods. >_<

True proof here that everyone is different, fo'sho.

Thanks for the replies guys!!

Smitty, glad to hear I'm not the only one who can't use this thing. I'm not very happy that I blew 70 bucks on it either! I'll have to look into the p-style..sounds a bit big but still worth a go.

Logan, completely agree. There's no way I can pee out of my fly with this STP. Do they not test these before producing them? Sheesh.

Arch/Smitty, I kinda agree that 5 inches of hard plastic seems big to be able to carry around discreetly in a jeans pocket or something. Haven't tried the yogurt lid thing but maybe I'll try that out. I'm getting a little desperate. I just want to pee standing up! :(

Some people seem to be able to use them...I suppose it depends on the person and on the pants. With practice, you might find a way, but you made it sound like it's fundamentally impossible. If that's the case, no amount of practice will help.

I was wearing Levi's 501s. They were pretty snug at the time. I've lost some weight, and the pants are looser now. I suppose I should give this STP another try. What kind of pants were you wearing, and exactly how do they fit you?

Ah yeah I almost always have my messenger bag (I bicycle commute exclusively) so that's an easy one for my pstyle. Also, if I have it sticking out of my back jeans pocket, it does show; about a half inch to an inch sticks out but I don't give a ->-bleeped-<-; no one else would ever know what it was lol.

yeah I don't know if I'll ever master the flimsy-pee-part STP packers (like the Surge). I'm curious about the nipple-style but I'm not about to go spend another big chunk of $$$. Gah!

Oh man, the medicine spoon and I do not get along; I may as well just stand there with my pants on and piss LOL

Arch, I mostly wear Levi's 521s which are slim fit. So not real loose and they are lower on my hips than some jeans. Maybe that's the problem and the surge will work for guys who wear loose pants? I'll try it out once the summer gets here and I'm wearing cargo shorts all the time as well.
