Title: Estrace/Premarin

After SRS my surgeon gave me an after care packet and in that packet it said after one month post-op use a Premarin cream on your new vagina for six months. This is done to soften the newly constructed vagina, which sounds good to me, except for the Premarin. The procedure to get Premarin is animal cruelty, which thoroughly disgust me. So therefore I was clearly not going to use this product. I did not do a whole lot of research, my only other alternative would be Estrace which I've been using. I asked two Doctors if one product was better than the other, they both were female Doctors and they both advised me not to use Premarin because of the way it was made and that's really all I got out of those two. I am not sure how expensive Premarin is but Estrace with my insurance is $60 for a 40g tube which last maybe four weeks +/- a bit. Has anyone tried both products and noticed one being better than the other? Has anyone used just Premarin? It's kind of selfish of me and really goes against some strong beliefs of mine but I would possibly use Premarin if the results of the product are really good.

Premarin is made up of 3 different Estradiol and some Estradiol by products. Yes its made from horse pee. The cruelty issue is what it is. Those two doctors gave you a personal opinion rather than a medical opinion. Since you would only using it for 6 months I guess the choice is whether to follow your doctors instruction or do your own thing. I personally would grin and bare it for 6 months. Just my opinion.
