Title: Missing a day?

I'm just curious - is it a problem if you miss a day or two of taking hormones every once in a while?
Everytime I've met up with my doctor it never really came to mind.

You should be ok but try and make it an everyday habit.

You'll be alright :P ... you may get some hot flashes and all that but you won't lose progress that quickly as long as you don't miss a day like... alot of days

I just don't want testosterone to kick in asap or something as being young, I wasn't physically matured as a male 100% and I want to avoid that.
Due to a few issues, I won't be picking up a refill until Friday and just ran out yesterday so I'll have to go two days without.
I still have spironolactone though.

Get ready for some hot flashes but it probably wont hurt your progress.

+1
Try not to miss anymore after this so you can get the best effect that you possibly can.

Quote from: Alainaluvsu on March 14, 2012, 11:31:05 PMThis is probably the worst case scenario. The half life of something like Progynova (estradiol valerate) is 27 hours - in other words it takes about 27 hours for half of the dose to be excreted from the body.
Get ready for some hot flashes but it probably wont hurt your progress.
It'll probably also take a day or two for the levels to stabilise afterwards as well. As you're on spiro, you're not going to suddenly bulk up into the incredible hulk in two days with a lower estrogen level in your system. Do try and keep count of your meds and anticipate well before time when you need to go in for a new script. As with all medications that are long term, consistently taking your hormones and blocker at the same time of day will allow the best therapeutic effect to happen.

I know when my doctor dropped my dosage i was getting hot flashes the next day. A week later my e was tested at 80 points lower. When i was doing injections with a half life of 5-6 days, by day 8 i was getting them too. I have a cis friend who needs estradiol and when she misses a dose she says she gets in awful shape. She even carries around her pills in case she forgets. Everybofy is different of course, but im just sayin.. hot fladhes may be in your day if you miss a dose.

I haven't actually experienced hot flashes when missing days... and I've missed a couple more than I should have. I didn't really notice anything except, perhaps, a little less energy.

Missing a day or two (or three) is not that big of a deal and won't affect your progress in the least. Sure, you'll probably get some hot flashes and maybe be a little down, but a lot of that might also be in your head.

Here's the thing. Many pharmacies will dispense 30 pills as a monthly supply. Seven months have 31 days. So, about every other month you will miss a day. If you extremely concerned about the missing day's dosage, or if you know you are going to miss several days, you can try scoring and cutting your pills, or reducing your injection, to "stretch" your medication.
This method is not recommended, of course, for critical therapeutic meds; but works fine for maintenance meds, especially those that have a extended clearance time in the system.
