Title: Yep, another one XD
Post by: Kameryn on March 16, 2012, 03:49:06 PM
Hi, everyone!

My name is Kameryn, though I haven't really settled on it, yet. I chose the spelling because it's only 2 letters from my birth name and my nephew already calls me "Ryn" :D

I am 22 years old and a transmasculine/FTM person. I'm slowly coming out. I've come out to my closest friends and am starting to come out at work. I'm not on T, but I am on DHEA. I've only been taking it for about a week, but my voice is already dropping (woot woot!).

Erm... what else... I live in the North West of the US, though I'm from the South. Sadly, I don't have an accent other than a typical American one :(

Well, I'm a pretty open book, so any questions I'm happy to ask.

I'm excited to meet and chat with others like me!

Hi Kameryn, it's nice to meet you! I'm from Boston, but geography isn't important. The world is spinning backwards lately, allowing us here in the States to lead off the introductions hours before the Aussies even wake up! But don't worry, they're coming. See you around, hugs, Devlyn

Hi Kameryn, welcome to Susan's! I'm from the South and live in the NW too, but I try not to have too much of an accent. I still have a few colloquialisms I'm probably never going to outgrow, though. And I still eat grits. They have yellow grits up here. ;D

Look Out, They're Back!
Hi from another Aussie, and welcome aboard.  Personally I find Southern accents pleasant, cute from the right person even.
Hope your transition is going well.

Karen.

And bringing up the rear guard, is yet another of the Aussie Mafia,
A warm welcome to Susan's family Kameryn, I hope you enjoy the camaraderie and information here.
As Devlyn mentioned we are a very international family. Karen is only one postcode short of the Antarctic, and although it get very cold down there; she has plenty of cute little penguins to keep her warm and company.  :D

So if you are ever awake in the early hours of the morning because something is bothering you, there is always someone home here to answer your question. Look forward to hearing more from you in time to come. And thank you for sharing a little of your thoughts and feelings with us.

Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Grits are good.

Bacon grits are better.

You agree, Ryn?

I don't, because I'm a vegetarian XD

I never got into grits anyhow... I grew up in a European-influenced household, so I know more German food than Southern food :P

I'm a vegetarian too. That fact does screw up grits a bit, so Jaime I'm not disagreeing with you. I use olive oil instead of butter, and that's great. I use fake sausage if I want to substitute for meat, and that's just passable. I make tofu scramble (tofu, turmeric, salt, oil, purple onions) instead of eggs, and I like that better than eggs. Toast is what it is. Though growing up it was always wonderbread and now it's whatever whole grain stuff is on sale. We used to have tomato gravy, and I don't make that anymore, but I do often add tomato paste or raw tomatoes to the grits. Hot sauce too.

Have you noticed the high number of FTMs that are also vegetarians? Must be something in the water XD

Well, it's certainly not the water I'm drinking.

Then again, I don't really identify with the "trans" label anyway.
:)

I do love southern style cooking though.

Haha yep, correlation doesn't imply causation.  I'm a meat eater.

I'm a Southerner, too, Alabama.

Yeah, I think Ryn was being facetious though. :)

Gumbo is the main food I really miss. There's none up here and I'm pretty sure I'd have a three day stomachache if I ate it anyway. But still.

bad influence, Jamie. I'm either going to spend money I don't have or get a stomachache, or both.

What exactly is Grits anyway?  And Gumbo?
I'll try anything twice, just off to make some Poutain, as near as I can anyway.

Karen.

Gumbo is a kind of seafood stew that everybody cooks a little differently. Roux plus ocean animals and okra and stuff. Grits is pretty much polenta but prepared like hot cereal and usually eaten along with greasy savory stuff. I've heard that people in the U.S. Northeast eat it sweet but that just sounds crazy to me. I wouldn't try that.
