It is indeed something that all these years of me growing up, i have only just been witness to what family really means.
I told my nan today that i'm transgendered. I worried for so long about how she would react, if she'd cast me out from the family, shout at me, look down on me, fail to understand that this is something i NEED to do.
I was completely took by surprise when she told me she knows exactly what it is (no need for the waste of paper and ink i put into printing off a ton of information) and she just wants to make sure i am making the right descision. She gave me a warm and expressive hug (very unusual) and told me that no matter what, she's here for me, no matter the circumstance. To put it in her words, i could walk through her door with four heads and she wouldn't be bothered :D
I am so happy!

Hiya. I can totally relate. My nan did the same thing to me when I told her about me; she drove me mental for a while though! lol, the best thing you did was to be honest with your dear old Gran. ;)

she's the head of the family so... what she says goes. She knows how to look after everybody and she knows how to keep a cool in harsh situations. She also likes to remind you when you've done wrong.
So i was real scared that if she didn't like it she would tell me where to get off. And i was uber surprised when she let on she 'knows' all about these things!!! :o She's like a living encyclopedia with a whole sphere of knowlege locked within her... >_> which is also kinda scary!
I love my nan, she's great!

Congratulations wishy, a job well done. Isn't a releif when they just turn around and hug you. I know that feeling. Well I hope that the rest works out as well.

You are fortunate to be sure. My parents were confused and I had to explain it to them, particularly my mom. My dad still thinks I'm still gay, my mom understands, but has a hard time in adjusting [she has a terrible memory anymore lol].
