sometimes I feel like im not really changing, I am already so much more aware of my body but I feel like some things arent going at the right pace,or changing at all Ive had no side effects and well I was also wondering if I can take the estrofem sublingually...Ive heard it works better and I dont want to just taper off my T I want to destroy it!!!! lol
Oh and btw im kinda short and never been very masculine so I also want to know if it sounds like im expecting to much to quick thanks ;D

Quote from: sarahcookie21 on April 03, 2012, 01:48:41 PMWe all have days where we feel as if we aren't changing or moving toward our goal, but honestly 2 weeks is very quick to be expecting much in the way of physical changes.

Do take the estrofem sublingually. It is much safer for your body that way. If it isn't a proper dose for sublingually there isn't any harm in trying it. Who makes the prescription and maybe someone taking the exact same med can tell you if it will dissolve properly. Wal-Greens around here gives me a generic that dissolves just fine for sublingual use.

If you can take it sublingually it will dissolve in less than 5 minutes. However make sure not to brush your teeth anytime soon after taking it.

Welcome Sarah,
To the biggest rollercoaster ride of your life. Not only do you have the fun of adapting to these 'wonderful' physical changes, you can be consistently bombarded by these sweet little 'left of field' feelings you've NEVER had before, that leave your head spinning.
By way of example, tonights little surprise.
Embrace and enjoy it. It's your very own personal journey and I'm looking forward to reading your book.
Be safe, well and happy.
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Quote from: Catherine Sarah on April 03, 2012, 11:32:16 AMThis journey is not for the faint hearted, so buckle up and expect a lot of laughs and tears. You have now become an emotional factory.
Was packing up a days work about 2 hours ago and quite innocently heard a version of the Hallelulajah song, that has totally devasted me.
Can't stop thinking about where to find a man, who is going to take me to new levels of relationship I've never known to have existed. god IT'S INTENSE I've been in near fetal position for most of it.
There's at least half a box of tissues on the desk in front of me, I still haven't packed up.
This feeling is just sooooo close to home. I've seen the influence my son has had over his wife to be. She has come out of a succession of abysmal relationships a well as a dysfunctional family, and just to talk to her and see how she has changed, through this relationship with my son, to a semi dominant, positive, constructive relationship, is nothing more than awe inspiring. If only she knew HOW inspirational she is. (She will soon. As soon as they are married.)
This blessed journey just keeps dropping these quaint little thoughts right out of left field, into your lap and leave you wondering. Bloody hell, or 'Struth.' in Aussie dialect.
Hope the rest of you are in better condition than I am.
Huggs

sarahcookie,
Sometimes as with me on the same stuff that you are on, these changes will creep up on you. Yes, your tastes in food will change as well as your body. Certain things such as the disappearance of hair from my knuckles was realized after reading threads here on Susan's about others with these changes and making me check on myself in places on my body that I ignored before. Your changes may be more profound at 21 than mine at 59. I like dark chocolate more often now. Yes as always I like almonds in my chocolate as well.
Be sure to get tested for kidney and liver function as well as the hormone levels.
Two weeks is anticipation, wait for a couple of months! Enjoy the rollercoaster ride!
Joelene

In my cases (third time on HRT for me) it took about a month with just premarin and maybe after 2-3 weeks when I used spiro before I felt any changes. Androcur kicked ass within a week! As they say YMMV. About now is when to expect the roller-coaster ride to start! Keep plenty of tissues handy.
One thing on tastes in food I've been seeing from talking to other Ts in my group is a sudden craving for vinegar. I always had a propensity towards it and it sure is a lot stronger now. And of course, there is that wonderful synergy between estrogen and chocolate ;D Dark is better than milk, less sugar and more of the good stuff.
Hot flashes??? I wish! I am colder now then ever before. The A/C at work is always 70. Down in production areas sometimes lower! Give me the Florida Keys in August temperatures! I need to wear a full set of thermal undies in the summer, plus a sweater it is so cold inside. Being tied to a desk all day doesn't help to generate heat either. Funniest part of all this is my wife swears I am a nuclear reactor at night I throw out so much heat. But I was that way before HRT. Back then I joked about needing HRT for my night sweats, just like they said in the commercials on the tele ;D

I have been on HRT for 5 days now and there have been times the last couple of days when I have been burning up. I was wondering if the meds might have had something to do with it but I figured it was too soon.
As for the sleeping, I have been sleeping much better every night since taking my first dose. I guess I am a such a peace in my life that it is so much easier to relax.
Keep me informed about the changes because I'm about 2 weeks behind you.

Orals are broken down by the liver, which degrades the estrogen so not alot of the dosage is even absorbed. I have always kept my hormone dr in check, as he does not know as much as I would like ha ha! I started off with oral, but quickly moved to inject able, as all of the hormone gets into the bloodstream and promotes a quicker change in most people. Alot also depends on your genetic disposition, but proper dosaging and what method of delivering is key. With spironolactone, I have only used the oral, because it works good enough like that and is just a DHT blocker. You are 21, so you should see a good change in 4-5 months, and will continue getting better results. 2wiks is just too soon to see much of any changes other than the hot flushes perhaps some moods swings.

I had a few hot flushes the first two weeks, settled down after that. Skin softened up pretty quickly as well. (See my post in the HRT section for more details).

Two things need correction in this.. There is no verifiable data that shows any delivery method is better than any other.. And spironolactone primarily effects T and has only a weak effect on DHT..
