Title: Problems my Wife could face

My wife and I have talked about this many times.  When I transitioned at work I had my own problems to deal with and of course my wife helped me through them.  But my transition will also affect her at her own place of work, eventually, as her co-workers find out.  My wife works at Queens University, one of the biggest in the country, and she has a great support structure in place there.

In my situation, my wife is more concerned about how she's affecting my employment than I am.  It just isn't a big deal for me, although perhaps someone who shares more personal interaction at work than I do would be more affected.

I will say that I won't work for employers that don't respect diversity - in all its' forms, and I work in a field that typically has supported diversity.  I definitely am more selective about potential employers than I would have been 15 years ago.

my wife works in a public setting, I don't. however nobody has really made a big deal about her transitioning at her job other than initial coming out/shock. I certainly do not advertise to my clients that my wife is transgendered, but I do not hide from it either. Much like I would not tell my clients that I have 4 kids including a baby that I am usually nursing while working on their projects. I think thats on a need to know basis  :P
