My wife is not feeling well today. About 2 hours ago she called upstairs to me that she needed a blanket. She was shivering in her chair in the living room. I brought one down to her and wanted to make sure she was okay. I tucked her in and asked if she wanted me to stay with her.
That's the first thing. A month ago I think I would have made sure she was comfortable, asked is she needed some toast or juice and she would have said no and I would have retreated back upstairs to finish my emails or watch TV or a movie. But today I wanted to stay with her and make sure she was okay and I wanted to be available to her if she needed anything else.
When I asked, "Do you want me to stay with you?" she answered, "That would be nice but you don't have to."
That's the other thing. A month ago I don't think she would have told me that it "would be nice" if I would stay with her. She would have figured I was just a guy and that I would want to do the typical guy thing and retreat to what I was doing before she bothered me and she would have resigned herself to suffer through her flu all by herself.
So here I am, two hours later watching her sleep and waiting for her to wake up so I can ask if she wants any toast or juice or another blanket or some music on the stereo.
hmmmm? So what happened here?

Dare I say it Debbie but its that mothering instinct, you are such a sweetheart. I think that you wife loves your company and wishes to spend more time with you and likes the idea of you helping her. Don't read to much into it.
But I do like the idea of you wearing a pinni and hanging over your wife with a bowl of soup. ;D
i hope that she is feeling better soon.

Lucy,
It took just a little bit of googling to figure out a pinni is a pinifore and find a picture of one. I'll see if I can find a picture of someone wearing one and use it for my avatar.
It would be interesting to know if I would have spent this much time (now almost 4 hours) waiting to see what she might need if the internet went down and I didn't have Susan's to browse as I sat here. hmmmm? No I won't read too much into it.

Maybe she is beginning to accept your transition.
