Title: FFS questions
Post by: Siobhan on April 21, 2012, 08:31:38 AM
I know about Dr Altman, are there any other good surgeons in the UK? Ive also considered going abroad, i read about some place in peru that does package deals, anyone know about it?
What are the requirements for FFS?just money?
Do they give you an idea of the final result before you commit?
Do you have to pay upfront or can you pay in installments?

The standard requirements for FFS are lots of money, labs, and a ekg clearing you for surgery.  As for the final results I am a pro retoucher when I am healed up I could probably help you give the surgeon an idea of what you want and desire to look like  (for free of course).  As for a final result and experienced surgeon should be able to give you somewhat of an idea but nothing exact. As far as payment usually you have to pay a non-refundable deposit and the rest is due sometime before your surgery. Paying installments would only be an option if you used a credit card or took a loan.  Any other questions pm me. ;)

I am just about ready to send my deposit and book my appointment for August at Femilife in Peru.  Yes, they offer a package deal, and if you send them pictures, they will advise you what you need done.  I sent my pics to quite a few places both in the US and abroad, and they all came back recommending the same procedures.  Femilife seems to have a really good package put together, and a TG woman actually runs the place.  The main doctor is a maxilofacial reconstructive surgeon, so he knows the ins and outs of FFS and facial shapes.

As far as getting your pics done, Dr. Speigel in Boston recommended this place:  http://www.virtualffs.co.uk/  I should be getting mine in about a week.  remember that the virtual FFS is not EXACTLY what you will look like, but it can give you an idea of how you will look with what you will get done.  Also, take a look at the pictures she needs, and those are the pictures you can send to FFS doctors for their assessment.

As with all "cosmetic" surgery, its a cash deal.  Some places in the US finance, some use a finance company, but the interest rate is crazy.  As far as requirements, there are none.  It is strictly an elective surgery, so you can do it without any doctors / therapist's note.

You can pm me for more specific info if you'd like!  Hope that helps!

No problem ;) Once I am healed from my surgery I intend to offer this to everybody here so they can save their money for the actual surgery, hrt, and shoes.

In the UK, you need approval to get FFS, despite their not paying for it at all? That's weird, since it isn't really a trans-specific surgery and anyone should be able to get it... o.o I mean, a FFS is basically a varying combination of various bone procedures any man of woman could want to get and not need any approval for...

I'd understand the approval if the government payed for it, but in this case, I really don't. o.o
