Just wondering. Gonna get a new 'do this summer, would need an open-minded (ie, recommended) hairstylist to help me learn what looks good on me, and what doesn't.
What's a typical price for this? $100 + tip?
Please post, or if you prefer, PM me with who you'd recommend.
Thx!

I don't know about Seattle, but for the price, 100 $ is very far off. If you're just going to geta cut and tips/chat, 40 $ is about the maximum you can expect. Unless you go to one of those overpriced, glamourous salons where you pay for the glitter on the hair spray can.

sorry, i can't suggest anyone particular as I take scissors in my own hands.
But look into hairstylists located on the Capitol Hill. I would give them then a call first and ask specifically what you are looking for.
The Hill is, as you might know, the most LGBTQ friendly neighborhood in town.
Good luck!

Girl please.. come to my school down in Louisiana.. you'll pay about as much after it's all said and done :D
Why do you need a recommendation of someone who is known to work well with MtFs? Just get a photo and maybe some knowledge about what you want. Most cosmetologists are very open minded, the field is filled with very fem gays and a few transsexuals. $100 for a haircut? Ick.. no way...
If you want some advice, show me a pic... pm it whatever. I'll be glad to let you know some basics of what would look good on you!

The $100 I got by googling for salons...range posted is often between $80-$150!!
I'm not real keen on "getting knowledge", not that I'm an ignoramous or anything, but time is somewhat precious to me, and I'd rather have an expert suggest ideas, rather than me trying to re-invent the wheel...
I've been to Capitol Hill, but heck, I couldn't even find "Neighbors"!!!

Talk to my friend Sammi who owns "Helmet Head" in old Georgetown on Airport way south of downtown Seattle, she will take good care of you! Her prices are in line or under what you are looking for...and she is very very good! We went to her for many years until we moved to CA.
You will be in good hands...trust me, she is good people:)
btw...we would get a nice glass of wine or cold beer while she worked ;)

Beth Andrea, I don't know about your area, but over here, the only salons that are on the Internet ARE the overpriced ones. Most, if not all, "normal" salons are found in the phone book.
