Title: Lack of hormones for 2 weeks
Post by: Christine Snider on May 31, 2012, 12:03:33 PM
Hai peoples!

I will be undergoing Facial Feminization Surgery in 2 and a half weeks with Dr. Spiegel in Boston. I'm not to terribly nervous right now about the surgery. However, I'm very worried about having to stop hormones in 4 days. I've only been on hormones for a little over a year but already so much has changed and my mood depends very heavily on how feminine I look. I was just wondering if anyone knows what a little over 2 weeks with no HRT will do to ones development?

Development?  Not much really.  Sure, you're gonna feel the effects, but once you resume, changes will soon resume with it.  I was off hormones for about three weeks due to suspected health issues, and it affected my mood and dysphoria quite a bit; as far as physical changes, nothing major and since having resumed hormones, everything has gotten right back on track.  No worries about it, it'll be okay.  Congrats on your upcoming surgery!

Don't sweat it. :) I have been off for two weeks myself as of today due to not being able to get time off work to go get my mammogram. My doc won't refill my scripts till I had. Fourtanatuly I'm getting them tonight.

But to your question... My avatar pic is me just 2 days ago... Compare them to my other photos that I posted in the "you look fabulos darling" thread from a few months ago and you can see no negative differences.

You'll be just fine and with a new face to go with it... Let's just say I can't wait to see the "after" photos of you ;)

The reason doctors have you stop HRT is to help prevent any (very rare) complications from the surgery, such as developing blood clots.

You will be fine without them for that short period of time.  There should be no appreciable physical changes.
