Post by: Simply Lisa on June 15, 2012, 04:42:54 AM

Anyone else have rosacea?  What make up can I use?

I think the answer to your question depends on what form your condition has taken.

I have a very minor form with small veins in the skin beneath my eyes.  If it gets worse, it can be treated with lasers.  To control it, I use sunscreen.

Have you talked with a dermatologist?  With some forms of the condition, makeup can cause flares.

Thanks for the reply.
I have the type that appears as acne. It occasionally gets in my eyes.   I have not discussed cosmetics with my dermatologist. I am new to the community, just started seeing a therapist regularly,  and am not ready to "come out" even with a Dr.

I understand.  There are reasons why "men" use "makeup" outside of being in the theater.  One is to cover up acne.  But let me do a little more research for you.

Here is another website to check:

Here is a page from my earlier link about how to use makeup with the condition, without naming brands:

Based on my experience with skin issues, you're going to have to tread carefully no matter what. Never apply something without doing some kind of test patch before, and give it a good amount of time (maybe even like 24hrs after removing the makeup?) to make sure it isn't going to aggravate your condition. Everyone's skin is going to behave a little differently.
