Hello,
My name is Miharu. I've been seeking some small measure of community for a long time. I transitioned nearly 14 years ago. It has been a long time since I've had a trans friend or really had much connection at all to any segment of the trans community. I've been busy pursuing goals, loves, joy and abundance. I realize now that for me to feel truly fulfilled in my life I need peers, people who I can look up to, people who I identify with. For a long time I'd forgotten myself and simply blended into society, a woman among women. I work in an all female environment. I met the love of my life along the way; she loves me for who I am, and still she can't really know what life as a trans woman feels like. Most of the people in my day to day life have no knowledge of my trans history. At 47 years old, I am still very much moving forward, eager for new adventure, excited for all that still lies ahead for me; I have never been one to sit around reminiscing about the glory days. Life for me is just picking up steam. I very much look forward to the next 47 years!
Honestly, I have no way of knowing if this forum is the community I've been looking for, or even if it is a stepping stone to that community. What I do know is how I feel, and I feel a warmth and an open invitation to join the conversation and (maybe, just maybe) find a kindred soul or two with whom I might enjoy the journey of life for the next little while. And so, I look forward to being among you for a time. Thank you all for having me.
Peace,
Miharu

hello Miharu!
Welcome!!
I grew up in the Northwest but am in California now...been here at Susans for almost four months now, I cant begin to tell you how great it has been to meet such wonderful, kind, helpful people! it is so comforting to be here, knowing someone will gladly offer advice or just listen if thats what you need.
Enjoy, and take some time to read past posts and topics, hopefully you will stick around and make some great friends along the way!

Hi Miharu
A big warm Aussie welcome to Susan's family. Dearie me, you've been the other side of Paradise for 14 years. Congratulations. I think you are the envy of most here. To some degree, when those transitioning here are relieved of their GID through surgery they follow in your footsteps and assimilate into feminine society, never to be heard of again.
That's not to say you won't find a kindred spirit or two here. It's just so good you have returned from the other side with great news of the opportunities and wee little insight into the joys of complete living.
I hope your stay is long and fruitful. I look forward to hearing more about you in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Miharu,
if you live in the Tacoma area, there is a transgender support group called Gender Alliance of the South Sound that I tend to frequent. I've made some great trans-friends there. For a matter of fact their meeting this Friday, June 22. Check out the meetings in the link to their site.

Hi Janet,
No, I didn't make it to Pride this year. I'd planned to, but Sunday was so gorgeous that I never made it out of my backyard. The trouble with PDX Pride is that this year's event was almost certainly pretty much the same as last year's event which was pretty much like the event that happened the year before that. If anything is changing, it's that the festival itself is getting to be more commercial/sales oriented. My yard and my home are so beautiful, Pride was not enough of a draw to get me to leave the peace of my sanctuary.
Hugs,
Miharu

Hi Miharu, I live in NE out by Providence. Feel free to PM if you ever want to have coffee or something. I always like meeting people from Susan's. We have been discussing a Pacific NW meetup in Seattle and/or Portland but I'm not sure if there are any dates set yet.

Hey Felix, I live in the Sellwood area of SE PDX. I'm the maniacal pool player; I've been known to stay up all night knocking balls around the pool table all by myself, like some lonely kid that no one will play with. I love meeting new people, especially if pool is involved.

Funny you should say, Sigmafan; my pool table is pink, and my billiards room is decorated with super hero Barbie Dolls.
Fair warning: I've been known to make the boys cry at the pool table. Just sayin'.

Hi Miharu
First of all wellcome.
In the second place, I know what you mean.
Just like you I had transitioning many years ago.
Just like you I did go on with my life but, now in the right gender.
For me, the past was done and I try ed to shake it off, it was history and would not come back ever again.
But your past will always be a part of you and so I try ed to find some people with the same unique past, because even a wellunderstanding partner will never understand what you have been trough, the fears, the hopes, the expectations, the comments and whatever.
So, it's always nice to talk with people who have been there, who walked the miles in the same shoes.
Even that we live in different continents and even that I live in a very tolerant country, our culture is the same and I think we had the same struggles to become what we always were.
In short words, I'm happy to meet you.
hugs
Annette

I escaped from Seattle four years ago ;)
I would love to head up if possible for a meet and am keeping an eye on my schedule.
meanwhile I ran across this :)

Funny Michelle; I say the exact same thing about California. I was born and raised in the West San Fernando Valley, at the northwestern edge of Los Angeles. Portland is paradise. I will never go back to California.
You can have Sunny Cali; I'm staying where everything is green and the hills never burst into flames.

lol, they can have the southern end of the state!
I'm about 60 miles west of lake Tahoe in a nice quiet place in the country, our weather is "above the fog and below the snow" so far that pretty much describes it, also not as hot as the valley which is nice. Tahoe is our escape when it does get to warm.
Gotta admit I do like the Portland area though and have spent many happy weekends and vacations there.
Crystal Ballroom, The Roseland Theater, Voodoo donuts mmmmm

I'm too pudgy and my kid doesn't need anymore fillings. :D We did end up with a weird call-and-response song that we still sing when the topic comes up.

Too cute! The last thing I need is doughnuts! It's enough that I'm married to a pastry chef.... no more treats! Please! No more treats!
