Title: Hey comic, anime, and graphic novel fans - make yourself known
Post by: Jamie D on June 26, 2012, 07:42:45 PM
We have quite a few new members here in the past year who are fans of comics, anime, graphic novels, etc.

And we even have a few artists among us.

Tell us your interests, favorite characters, and post your artwork.

Show off your avatar, too.

I like comics, web comics, anime, manga, and some graphic novels. Unfortunately, I am not that good an artist and don't own a scanner anyway.
My last avatar was Doomface from the webcomic Bad Guy High. My current avatar is Mayuri Kurotsuchi from Bleach.
I am a huge Hellsing fan as well as Durarara!!, Death Note, Bleach, and Ouran High School Host Club. My favourite characters from are Alucard, Pip, the captain, Anderson, and Integra. My favourite characters from Drrr!! are Izaya Orihara, Shinra Ki->-bleeped-<-ani, and Shingen Ki->-bleeped-<-ani. I like both L and Light from Death Note and like the fact that Light is a villain protagonist. I have a very long list of favourite characters from Bleach and it would take too long to list them all. I also like Kyoya from Ouran. Oh yeah and I also like Soul Eater for its halloweeny style and some of the characters. I like Stein (who doesn't?) and Giriko.
I really like Marvel, but haven't read them all. I do, of course, like Loki and Dr. Doom. I am also fond of what little I have seen of Gambit so far (just from an X-men cartoon and I'm not counting the Wolverine movie). I also like Fables quite a bit and my favourite characters are Bigby Wolf and Snow White.
I have a long list of web comics I read, so I'll just name three. I like Evan from Bad Guy High and Doomface also amuses me (but the real Dr. Doom and Evan are still better). Charby the Vampirate is much better than the title suggests and Hex, Tony, Charby, and Quixoto are my favourite characters. Darken is a definite favourite of mine and Gort is my favourite character.

I've been reading comic books since I was little, and I long ago decided that I would never grow up! Really, I believe that (even though it's now chic to be geek) they're an under appreciated form of art. The superhero, specifically, speaks to our most deeply felt aspirations and is the modern equivalent of the Greek heroes.

I'm primarily a DC fangirl. The Batverse, Superverse, Green Lantern Corps, Wonder Woman, etc. I'm also a big fan of their Vertigo imprint, The Sandman, Hellblazer, Lucifer, Transmetropolitan, Fables, etc.

My favourite book (and author, I might add) is V for Vendetta by Alan Moore. If you've only seen the movie, you're missing something wonderful. If you undervalue the literary significance of comics, Alan Moore (followed by Neil Gaiman) is my rebuttal!

Great thread, Jamie!

I am a fan of Zatanna, but more of comic book art than comics themselves.

And where are our Sailor Moon fans?

Yay!

I'm a big Sailor Moon Man.  I love Sailor Moon and I hate it.  I don't think Serena should have been the leader and they don't give the other scouts enough credit and don't get me started on Chibiusa.

My favorite inner senshi is Sailor Mercury.   My favorite outer senshi is Haruka Tenoh.  Her and Michiru should clearly be the stars of the show in my opinion.  My favorite Sailor Moon villian is Nepherite.  If it were up to me Sailor Moon would consist of mostly Yuri pairings.

My favorite video game character is the classic Crash Banditcoot. I also like the Uncharted series

My other favorite animes are Lupin the Third, Cowboy Bebop, and DBZ.

My favorite DBZ character is Vegeta.  I personally think he's stronger than goku

I'm not really into comics.  The only comic I would read is the inFAMOUS comics because of the game.

Right now my avatar is Alex Mason from Call of Duty: Black Ops

I could go on and on lol.

Oh yeah, I am a HUGE anime fan!

I'm not known as "Miharu" at work, but that's what some of my friends call me because I identify with Miharu Sena Kanaka from the show "Girls Bravo".  I see Miharu, bright-eyed and innocent visitor from another planet, as the pure essence of all things feminine.  (My spouse sees me as her living Barbie Doll; she likes to dress me in Barbie inspired outfits for work everyday.  I love my partner... so I let her.)  I so love all that Miharu Sena Kanaka represents that I have a lot of pink streaks in my waist-length hair (Miharu's hair is pink), and my next tattoo will be an image of her.  Most days my hair is up in 2 buns, one on either side of my head with loose hair hanging from the buns and down the back, kind of the way that Miharu Sena Kanaka wears her hair.

Some of my other favorites are "High School of the Dead" (they need to do a few more seasons of that one!)
I love "Bleach";
"Angel Beats" sometimes brings me to tears;
I'm crazy for "XXXHolic";
"Speed Grapher" is right up there;
"Ghost in the Shell" is a not to be missed classic;
I totally love "Nana";
"Darker than Black" I totally love;
I was really sad to get to the end of "Elfin Lied"... I couldn't look away!
If I'm feeling really silly, I'm all about "Sgt Frog".
I tried to get into "Chobits" and "Ah! My Goddess" but they just weren't doing it for me.
"Soul Eater" is on my list of shows to watch.
Also, "Mushi-shi" is a little slow, but the art work is so amazing that I occasional let it wash over me.

Peace,
Miharu

Who doesn't like comics, but my all time favs. are Batman Lobo and green lantern. I would have to say for fav. character it would have to be Lobo the main man. Though growing up i wanted to be just like the Joker though when i realized that wasn't going to happen I started to learn to draw. I'm a DC fan been since i was 4 and bought my first comic. As far as anime goes though its ever changing what i like most currently re watching Sgt. Frog with my son.
Miharu I watched soul eater a while back its pretty cool hope you like it too

Fighting evil by moonlight =] Winning love by daylight! I loved Sailor Moon growing up.

Comics? I don't know if anyone knows or remembers, but the only super hero comic I own is Feedback's first issue! =P From that kind of cliche superhero reality TV show... embarrassing to admit but I was apart of his tech support fan group for a few years after that season.

Anime? Tons, too many to list. Currently I need to finish buying the last two volumes of Soul Eater.

Games, Tons, too many to list. Suikoden, Arc The Lad, Grandia, Jade Cocoon, Lunar, Breath of Fire, (Notice how I'm listing tons of PS1 era RPGs?)

I actually haven't been into comics for that long its been a recent thing. Nobody I knew as a kid was into them so it was never something I looked into.

My favourite super heroes are the X-men I really like the whole mutant storyline. I think it has a lot of meaning to it that makes it more real to me then say superman.
My favourite x-men is Wolverine because he made me feel more confident and comfortable with my height. My second is Storm because well...she's just cool.
I get the Ultimate Marvel Graphic Novel collection every two weeks and Wolverine & Deadpool once a month.

I vaguely remember "Tobor the 8th Man."

I don't recall any controversy.

That's okay, I don't really care much about children's shows gone by  :)  I just happened to remember a few and thought this thread might be fun
