Hi Trisha,
Another big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's a joy to have you with us. As you meander round, you'll find a mountain of information, resources and friendship here for you. Why am I telling you that now. You've been here a year already. You should know where Devlyn keeps the coffee mugs. So dive right in and ask any question your heart desires.
Look forward to hearing more about you in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Welcome Trisha,
I am from the city, lived there most of my life except the last 20 years in a western burb. How do you say the city name? How about Torono or Trana ? Don't know if locals do that, but when I lived there a lot of people softened up the word & just slurred or ran it out fast & sounded like that. I used to know a Trisha that I would see occasionally when I used to go to Wild Side a cd support club near the LGBT Church St village. Hope you may share more of your journey.
Have a Great Canada Day Weekend!
Cheers!
Jamie

Hi Trisha, I'm from Boston! Wait, why am I telling you that? You've been here for a year. Here's a cup of coffee, we switched to styrofoam since people were leaving the mugs everywhere! See you around, hugs, Devlyn

Hello and welcome from the Netherlands, I see you have allready met the Aussie maffia.
Nice to meet you, looking forward to your future post and to know you a little better.
Nice place Toronto, I have visit the city several times, I didn't have the guts to walk on the glass floor of the CN tower, yeah I'm a bit of a pussy, i know.
Give them my love in the always crowded younge street, hihi.
hugs
Annette

Hi, I'm from Toronto too! Great to meet another local. I am currently working up the nerve to check out the trans support group at The 519. Maybe then I can actually get to know some folks in the community in the flesh.

@ annette, hi
I am not sure where you reside in the Netherlands, but in the 70's I went to Toronto's sister city of Amsterdam and loved the place. My wife & I hope to go back there when she retires.
Cheers

@ Violet Bloom, hi
A lot depends on what happens with a visit with a Doc in my end of the city, if it doesn't work out I may have to get my application in on a one year wait list @ the Sherbourne Health Center. There was a support 101 if interested I could go to in June, but I was away on vacation on the start date. I have thought of going to 519, but there sessions start around 6 pm which doesn't work for me. Some of my sisterhood that live in the Church St. LGBTQ village have been to 519. The lady I talked to on the phone at SHC, was fine, we were both very relaxed with each other, I gave here an abridged story of my life after 10 years of being out enfemme a good part of the time the experience gives you confidence to be there, no excuses, she said it was good that I had my support group of friends. The staff at these places are there for us, just like here, no need to get your nerve up. Just be confident & talk to the staff by phone or in person.
Perhaps we will see each other one day.

Hi annette,
Nice meeting you too. I guess next time I get to Europe I should go to De Haag too wher your government is located and beaches on the North Sea, history and museums. I was in Amsterdam in the early 70's, one of my fondest memories was talking to a man when I stopped for a rest on a bench, maybe in his 50's, he noted I had a Canadian flag sticker on the back of my jacket. When he knew I was from Canada he said how thankful that the Canadian forces played a big role in liberating Holland. I knew Canada's role & it touches your heart when a person relates that, I have never forgotten that. Your current Queen was a child then and the Royal family arranged for her to live in Canada during the war. After having read the Diary of Anne Frank & seeing the film I went to the Anne Frank House, so emotionally moving. I have their site on my Facebook page. You can see I have the Netherlands in my heart.
Take care.

Yes Jamie, we in Europe should be grateful to the Canadian, American and British forces, otherwise we were talking German now.
We do speak German occasionally but now out of free will when we show German tourists the way to the beach.
The Germans are thankfully our friends and neighbors now and we live in good harmony with them.
I have visit Canada many times, even Mississauga, the shopping centre there.
Everywhere I was in Canada, BC, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec, I have met nice and friendly people, they even switched from French to English for me when I was in Montreal (beautiful city BTW).
Before the banking crisis, I did go to Canada and/or the US every year for a few weeks, now I'm due to financial reasons limited to stay in Europe.
On the other hand, Spain, the Canary Islands, Italy, Greece, Turkey or France are good places to spend some time too.
But I can't wait till the economics are going better and I can spend my time in your beautiful country again.
It's always a good thing to meet people from there.
So, maybe in the future we meet.
Hugs
Annette
