As a sci fi fanatic I was wondering who else was a sci fi fan and what their favourite series was? Besides star trek being my favourite, I am also really into haven and warehouse 13 at the moment, as well as doctor who (old and new), stargate and stargate Atlantis

I like the Star Trek TOS and TNG and the spinoffs, Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, the newer Battlestar Galactica better than the original, and Babylon 5.

The new Battlestar Galactica is one of my favorite shows of all-time. I will also second Ms. OBrien's suggestion of FireFly.
EDIT- Also, if you like old and cheesy, the show Lexx and the associated movies from which it is based are a fun watch as well.

Whenever I want to get someone to give sci-fi a shot, I always recommend the reimagined Battlestar Galactica. I also love Star Trek TNG, The X-Files, The Outer Limits, Firefly, the earlier episodes of The 4400, & Futurama (do cartoons count?)
But in general, I've always felt that sci-fi on TV always plays second fiddle to sci-fi on film.

Can I just second every single show everyone has said.
And apparently it's firefly's 10 year anniversary at comicon this year.

Firefly, Sanctuary, and I noticed someone else put Lost Girl, so I'm assuming that one counts too.
I have not yet seen Dr. Who, *gasp* but I plan to.

I like many that have been listed. I'm one of those people who gets mildly annoyed when people confuse fantasy with sci-fi so should we put those in another thread? Shows like Supernatural, True Blood, Game of Thrones, and Teen Wolf?

Omg, I LOVED that show. A giant insect spaceship that eats planets. It was, by far, the weirdest, most bizarre sci-fi series I've ever seen. But very, very good.
Actually, I still say "As you command, Stan" when people I know ask me to do stuff. ;D

Well, my two of my favourite shows just happen to be science fiction.
Fringe and Dollhouse.
I strongly recommend both of them. They are really good.
Fringe is a little chaotic because the story has gone all over the place. At first it was kinda like the X-Files where there were just random cases and they solved them. Then it went into a story arc with an alternate universe and stuff. But everything is still good.
Dollhouse is about people being programmed to be others for the (usually) rich. One of these learns how to fight it over time.

I liked Doctor Who when Tom Baker was the doctor. Just couldn't get into the other doctors. Maybe it was the writers at the time not sure but it just seemed more real with him. Now I like Eureka and sometimes watch Wharehouse 13 when I get the chance.

Hm favourite sci fi shows. Red Dwarf, Star Trek Voyager, Definitely the Twilight Zone, The Adventures of Alan Strange (Nickelodeon show) , Space Cases TV Ontario show. It's must that i watch the Twilight Zone every New Years Eve though. Either on TV or trying to find a few YouTube episodes to enjoy with the same fear and awe as i did the very first day.

OK, I have to do this. You girls will take all the good grown-up shows anyway. ;)
Back in 1962, when I was 5 years old, I got hooked on science fiction after discovering Fireball XL-5 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fireball_XL5). The characters were portrayed by - wait for it - marionettes. I find it hard to watch even a short clip now with a straight face, but it totally captured my young imagination.
Fireball XL5 - Start & Theme Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ifS2nP53Zs#)
A year later, the English-language cartoon version of AstroBoy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astro_Boy_(1963_TV_series)) premiered, and it became my new favorite show. Set in the year 2000, Astro Boy featured a boy robot with jets in his feet, weapons built into his back, super eyesight and hearing, and a built-in shortwave. I liked him better than Superman.
Astro Boy (1963) - Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3UbaB7oPTw#)
And I must admit that in 3rd grade, I never missed an episode of the imaginative but often cheesy TV series Lost in Space (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_in_Space). The characters were broadly played, the special effects, erm, not so special, and the plots often absurd. Of course I loved it. And in season two, Penny, uh, matured. My friends and I were pretty focused on her transformation. Me, for different reasons than the other boys - I wanted to be her. ;)
Finally, there was the original Star Trek series, which launched when I was 9 years old. My mom said it was too scary, because of this weird alien head (http://p1.la-img.com/930/21666/7457673_10_l.jpg) in the end credits, and wouldn't let me watch it at first. But Grandpa let me sit next to him when it was on, so for some reason that was OK. I was an instant addict, and when the show was cancelled, it was like they took away my birthday.
Hope this is as much fun for someone to read as it was for me to recollect...
