The Powerball is up to $240 million you just won, what would you do with all that money. Would you be greedy or give out the money, Or both.

Anything I did would be anonymous, I don't need all those "charities" running to my door for their handout.

I know the very first thing we would do is to help those in our own families who struggle and work so very hard to just get by.
Next would be setting up a foundation that would offer full scholarships, including housing, therapy if needed, medical ins etc. for lesbian and transsexuals who need to get away from their suppressing communities and families so they can go to college, nursing, technical, trade schools etc and be themselves and become qualified to work in a field they feel comfortable in. This wouldnt be just for young people, but all ages, even those in their 50's or 60's who need that change.
With that kind of money one could easily give grants for SRS costs to 100 transsexuals a year, maybe more. A shelter for those young lesbian teens who run away from home would be great. An advertising campaign that was designed to educate the ignorant public to the real nature of transsexuality and homosexuality is needed badly. I could come up with lots more if I had the money. Yes I would want a comfortable paid for house and enough to be able to travel to see friends and family whenever I wanted.
I'm going down and buy a ticket later this morning!! Wish me luck!

I have seen what a much smaller amount of 2 million has done to someone and if thats anything I would hope not to winthat much. Half a million however would be great.

I'd retire from practicing law for profit and set up my own business, working a few days a week doing cases I wanted to do, whether they paid or not.
I'd buy the lot for sale down the road that has two houses on it and boot the tenants with the pitbulls out.
I'd get a cook so I could eat healthy food without the bother of preparing it.
I'd donate some money to the SPCA. And then I'd think about who to donate more to.
And then...I dunno.

Pit Bulls Rock. She is probably the strongest connection to life I have.
I love animals, they are never judgemental and will love you for you no matter what.
This was when she was younger, about 6 months ago, she has gotten a bit bigger :D

Surgery for myself and another T friend of mine. More cosmetic surgery for me. :)
Set up a trust fund for my niece, to guarantee her a college in her future.
Set up three other trust funds for various family members. Not enough to live on, just to make things a bit easier.
Sell the house and disappear.

That's a cute dog, Jessica.
I have nothing against pit bulls per se. It's just that some people who own them don't treat them like dogs should be treated. They don't get love, snuggles and adoration like dogs should, and they don't get properly socialized. That would be the case for the two down the road. They're territorial and aggressive. They're left unattended for long periods. I'd be happy to boot the people and leave the dogs there and find them new people.

I was just thinking about this last night as I once again couldn't sleep.
I'd get my own house. Don't need anything big, as long as I'm out on my own. Second I'd get my car fixed. I don't need a new one right now, since it is a nice and fairly new one. I'd pay it off and make sure the insurance is caught up. I'd set up an account to pay for my potential TS needs, and then keep enough to live on at least for a while.
I have a friend right now who is so down on her luck I'm amazed she's not suicidal. She needs surgery, some housework, and I'm sure she and her husband would like to get some college. And a good trust fund for their one-year-old daughter.
After that, I just might have to get some new toys for the computer! :)
The rest, well, I'd deal with how and what when the time came.

I buy lottery tickets all the time. I've always dreamed of winning and often fantasized of the good things I would do.
I like Beth's idea to help the brothers and sisters in our community. I think this is something any of us should do if we truly care. Her heart is in the right place.
My wife and I are assisting a foreign college student with her school expenses. We both think it is very important for a girl to become as independent as possible. We would do more of this if we had all that money.
I hope my heart would be able to take the shock of winning that amount of money. I'd love to find out for real.
Wouldn't it be neat if someone in our little group really won. I sincerely hope so.

First, take the lump sum of about $108 million (ALWAYS take the lump sum).
Take $8 million and...
1. Set up a trust for my children.
2. Pay off evey debt my parents, brother and wife and I owe. (they deserve it)
3. Give parents and brother $1 million
4. Buy my dad a large garage/shop and furnish it with every car restoration tool known to man.
5. Find a REAL AC Cobra so he can restore it. (assuming I can find one) If not then he can restore his 56 T-bird.
6. Pay for the best medication money can buy for by brother (suffering from MS).
7. Tell all the long lost relatives who come calling to *#*@ off.
That should take care of the first $8 million.
Take the remaining $100 million and place it in the bank without touching it for one year. From that point on, I would simply live off the interest and never actually touch the principal amount.

4) I still want my airplane!

I don't know that I would continue doing EXACTLY what I do now, but I would change it up a bit. Instead of teaching drama in the school system, I would instead put more money into my youth community theatre so we could tour to assisted living facilities.

Y'all are thinking too small. We're talking 230 Million. Brenda, build an exact duplicate of Shakespear's Globe Theatre and open your own drama school. It'll be unique and make lots of money to do other projects
Build your own SRS clinic stock it with the best thearpist's and SRS surgeons in the world and offer grants for TS's who have their documents but can't afford the surgery.
The Sky is the limit. My wife and I want to open up a very special Blues Bar. I can't say anything more about it than that.

Cassie,
You don't know my taste in airplanes! :D A Boeing B-17G burns a lot of gas!
Of course, with that kind of money, I could purchase a flight to the ISS. Talk about astro-photography! Of course, until NASA starts taking paying pasengers, I would have to learn Russian.
I could even buy my own copy of SpaceShipTwo and lease it back to Virgin Galactic! (The space arm of Virgin Atlantic Airways.) Whenever the seats aren't full, I could always hop a ride myself! That's what the airlines did in the early days and through the Depression! (Airline employees were able to ride for free if the plane was not booked solid.)
With stars in her eyes....

The Globe theatre had an open roof. Won't work in the south where I am. But part of the $ I would drop in to the theatre would ABSOLUTELY go to a building. Not only could I use it, but I could rent it out as well. Thereby making even MORE money.

I to this day have not bought a single lottery ticket...but every time the pot gets into the hudreds of millions I contemplait "what would I do with that much money?"
So if I take that lump of about 1.08 mil
1. pay off every debt to everyone I've ever owed ~$12,000
2. buy a house, nothing to big, just really nice ~$250,000
3. buy myself an Acura NSX (wanted one since i saw one) ~$90,000
4. Buy my sister and her boyfriend a new house and cars ~$350,000
5. toss some cash to my sis and my parents ~$5,000,000
6. pay for everything that can possibly be done to help with my grammies leukemi ~$what ever it takes
7. all my TS needs ~$what ever it takes to get it perfect as money can buy
so that should bring me down to about $100 mil, and I'd take half of that and put in savings to gain intrest and live off that to go traveling all over the world.
And with the $50 mil left over how about a Susan's TS assistance donation, whatever it takes for all you to get what you need done, and the rest to charity and I love the idea of a program to educate the public about TS, TG, and homosexuality, so that too.
its a lot of money you can be very selfish with it and still give millions away to those who need it.

I'd pay off my mom's house and get it fixed up, and hire a maid for her and overpay them, and pay for my baby brother's daycare and their heating bill... And buy her a new car. Her house is a dump and she's terribly poor, but it's still hers and she'd want to stay there. I'd finish college and set aside more than enough for my two little brothers to go, and my dad too (plus a car to get there). And for me and my bf, a new house somewhere with a bit of wooded land and a Porsche for my man. And we would build a school for gifted and talented children and give out lots and lots of scholarships so income would not be a factor for any student.

That is so much money, I couldn't even begin to decide what to do with it all...maybe it would be easiest to just send it directly to Dr. Meltzer and pay for my own surgery and those of any of the members of our local TG support group that want it and need the money (well, Dr. Meltzer because the closest one to me, here in AZ...).

Let's see.
1. I would pay off all debts I owe.
2. I would by a pretty nice house.
3. I would get a nice car.
4. I would write a will just in case something happened to me in the next step.
5. I would get all the surgeries I want.
6. I would hire servants.
7. I would get an entire new wardrobe--probably some high fashion stuff.
8. I would travel the world.
9. I would help my parents with their business. That would probably help win over their acceptance.
10. I would help my kids out with what they needed
11. I would start holding weird contests with cash prizes just for fun. >:D
12. I would do all the activites I ever wanted to do.
13. Help all my friends and loved ones out just enough so they can get their lives straightened up.
14. Hold even more contests. >:D
Ok, so I might be a bit of an eccentric.

I'd do the obvious things with transition, help my family then I would set up a 1/2 way house to help those that had no way to transition in a safe environment nor the money to do it. Kind of like a Ronald McDonald house for TS.
