News from yesterday about proposed law reforms in the Australian Capital Territory to allow people to change their legal gender without the necessity of surgery:

At the bottom of the article is also a mention of the Transgender and Intersex support and advocacy group A Gender Agenda receiving a large amount of funding for heir work in the recent ACT government budget.

Beyond the Binary: legal recognition of sex and gender diversity in the ACT, was prepared by the ACT Law Reform Advisory Council (LRAC) and is being considered by the ACT Government. It provides advice on how to better protect the legal rights of sex and gender diverse people in the ACT.

If the ACT enact this I don't see how the States can avoid having to follow. We'll see.

Acts like this should be national with out the interference other parties that are stuck in there old beliefs or religious values, maybe that's a little too much wishful thinking.....
The act is over due as some places will allow your chosen gender, while others say what on you birth certificate is what we must use, a contradiction from one government department to another and service provider....
