For those of you that are sports fans- what are your favorite teams? I'm very passionate about the Seattle Seahawks and Boston Red Sox, and I'm a casual fan of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Columbus Crew- What about y'all? What's your story?

First time I've heard of someone liking all the Boston teams... and the Yankees :) How'd that happen? I've been to Fenway twice, including a Red Sox v Yankees game in 2005. I love that place...

I love watching Tar Heels basketball. That and the Redskins, although I'm not nearly as passionate about football.

I grew up 3 hours from Seattle, been a Seahawks fan since 1983 (age 8). INSANE about them- Never miss a game, go to games in Seattle and on the road every year- I even run a blog about them.

Red Sox? Roger Clemens was my favorite baseball player as a kid, and I became obsessed with Fenway Park and the team's tortured, rich history... fan since 1986.

Crew and Blue Jackets? I wanted to have local rooting interests after I moved to Columbus, and the culture surrounding Buckeyes football here is just wayyyy too intense and scary for me.

I gave up on the Red Flops when I was a teen. It's dangerous being a Yankees fan around here! Hugs, Devlyn

Recently, I've been quite interested in drassage.... not watching it, but who is doing it. Okay, bad humour.

Seriously, I'm not really into sports. But my hubby is, so I root for his teams. Once or twice a year we also go down to the ball park to watch the Giants play baseball. Even though I'm not really a baseball fan, I LOVE going to the city to enjoy a baseball game. Live baseball is not only a game, it's a huge social event. We drive in to Sunnyvale and take the train up to the city with a bunch of rowdy fans. We always run into someone we know. Then the happening at the park is just a big party. We always run into so many people. It's super fun.

During football season, we watch every broadcast Packer game. Those that are on the pay subscriptions are sometimes available at a local bar. I like watching the games with hubby. He's a good show all by himself.

Can I get any love for the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings?

But I regularly watch American Football (Gridiron) on ESPN and just enoy watching it. Except the adverts and many stoppages!

In the NRL I follow Melbourne Storm; in the AFL , Collingwood, go ahead and boo! I don't care. :laugh:, the Canadiens in the NHL, and Manchester United when it comes to soccer. 

I have realised that all four are hated, must be my perverse nature!

I for one absolutely love Team Dignitas from League of Legends, a PC game, of which the aforementioned team participates in the e-sports tournaments that are hosted for it.

Blazers basketball, Timbers soccer (football), and I guess I've still got a soft spot for Georgia Tech (american, college) football and Braves baseball.

Root for the home team and all that.  So my Giants (been a fan since I was 6), the 9ers (since HS, I like the Raider too) and, of course, WHOEVER IS PLAYING THE DODGERS or COWBOYS.

I'm OK with Oregon Ducks, only because so much of my money went there.

Football has been odd in the sense that I've grown to like it a ton more since starting hormones, I have no idea why. But it's the World's Game, The Beautiful Game, and I can see why! Hope Moyes can be the next Sir Alex.

I'm someone who likes sports way too much for her own good, all the boys ask me for my analysis and knowledge, haha. Not as much interest these days with hormones, but I still love a great game.  I guess it's based primarily on the fact that you can meet people and talk, an amazing food selection (I'm a total foodie),  there's strategy involved on so many levels of these games, and, oh yeah, sexy guys doing masculine, Herculean tasks, like a home run. Sometimes, if you look at the photos, that itself is an amazing art form, even if you don't like the game played; it's interesting to see the body in such twisted and unnatural positions.

My rooting goes back to my father who is NY-based, had my family all love the Yankees, since baseball is his favorite sport. (Possibly world football, since he also lived in England.) Other sports, yeah, he likes other NY teams, but he didn't push those as much. My surroundings made me grow up with all other Boston teams, given my geography, as a result. Man United was my own choice, and I get why they're hated, and how much it's a bandwagon pick, but I like my teams to win, since a lot of times I feel down and unsuccessful. The teams are one thing in my life that I have no control over, and it's a good escape for me, for when life gets too sad.

Not much of a sport fan but I always see how Blackpool FC have gone on,and usually wish I hadn't bothered!That's when swearing to much is useful

Basketball: San Antonio Spurs -- there's a decent amount of pain I'm recovering from with that, although my parents, my sister, and my students are faring much worse.

Airdrieonians ( who play in Scotland's third tier) and Scotland. It's not often I witness victory. :(

As you can tell from my username, I'm a big hockey fan. The Buffalo Sabres and Ottawa Senators are my favorite teams but I have a couple of other teams I like. I'll watch any hockey game that's on really.

I'm also a big football (soccer) fan. Manchester United and New York Red Bulls are my favorites.

I'm a casual American football and baseball fan. My hometown team are the Buffalo Bills and I cheer them on but I'm not a diehard fan. I like the Saints too. I watch the Mets sometimes.

I was raised watching sports.  If there was ANY sport ever aired during the '70s and '80s, rest assured my dad would have it on whether he was really into it or not and that game/match would supplant whatever it was anyone else felt like watching.  My dad's standard response to TV requests was, "Nope, there's a game on in X minutes," or "You can change the channel when the game is over."  Even when it was some blowout in a division 2 college game where nobody had a snowball's chance in hell of making the NFL and we were going to miss the first 30 minutes of the movie on the other channel.  He did finally get over it when my mom staged an intervention of sorts...

Anyway, I digress... (I do that.  I have ADD!)

My wife and I watch a lot of sports together and coincidentally liked all the same teams.

Grew up in Southern Ontario, thus was a diehard Leafs and Jays fan. In recent years, I've paid progressively less and less attention.

I support the Saskatchewan Roughriders and lucky I do because living here and not doing so entails pitchforks.

And for what it's worth, my most intense rooting interest is the Howard rink:

Ex-London, ON here...  My dad always had the Leafs games on when I was a little kid.

OK, why is it "Leafs" and not "Leaves"?  That one always left me scratching my head.

Then again my wife was recently annoyed at some yokel who said "knifes" and later "scarfs".   Although used incorrectly as plural nouns, they are correct when someone knifes you in the belly or scarfs down a burrito!

Teams I lost interest but will look at the Standings only for the past interest. I don't know who plays for the following teams:

MLB Chicago White Sox and whoever plays the Cubs( I have friends who are Cub fans and whoever plays the Sox. (They are only games that 100 years from now who cares. We would not beat up the other side, like other people do)

NBA Boston Celtics

NHL Montreal Canadiens (Habs)

NO OTHER Sports of any kind.

University of Michigan Football, basketball and hockey.

Okay deep breath this is a big list I love my sport.
AFL: West Coast Egales
Rugby (the game they play in heaven): Queensland Reds
NFL: Miami Dolphins (listen to me when I tip the Superbowl winner, since Brett Farve I have only been wrong twice. Colts vs Bears & Saints vs Colts)
NHL: Detriot Red Wings
Rugby League: My beloved Queensland Maroons come State of Origon
Cricket: Australian Test (The Ashes best series ever), tournement game, Australian one day international then T20 (in that order)
Soccer/Football: Have a soft spot for Liverpool, the only "Big 4" club not to win the EPL, but any league any team I can sit down and watch the game

Don't mind watching the odd baseball game now and then particularly if Boston or NY Mets are playing (a real pitcher is not afraid to face a ball themselves). Or college basketball come tournement time.

I just love my Oklahoma State University football team! Go Pokes!!!  ;D I did not know if I was going to survive until this season could get under way. There is just nothing better than to be at home games and then party afterwards at Eskimo Joe's. It is just the best experience in the world! Game day in Stillwater is just simply magical!!!  ^-^   :)

Jessica, You're right about college football.  It's magical!  Unfortunately the two schools I went to (University of Arizona and Indiana University) are both basketball schools.  Indiana's football team is terrible, while Arizona's is mediocre at best. 

Otherwise I've been a fan of the San Francisco 49ers (American football) and Oakland A's (baseball) since I was a kid.  Die hard is an understatement.  And having just moved to Seattle, I'm suddenly surrounded by Seahawk fans.  Although they're mostly new to football, so I'll give them a break (football fans will get that joke).

Yup.  I feel your pain.  Your Brewers and my A's have just melted down the last few weeks.  I was so ready for a strong playoff run...now the playoffs are even a question.  :(

The only sports I really follow are soccer (EPL) and hockey (NHL). Big Arsenal fan as they were the first team I ever saw play and got attached to.

Being from DC and living here for 25 years, I should be a diehard Caps fan, but 5 years of dating a nice Canadian girl made me a big time Oilers supporter.
