Susan's Place Transgender Resources

After 26 years of life, I'm finally starting to accept myself as being transgender. I recently came out to a close friend last week and having someone to confide these feelings in has definitely lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. I was referred to this site as a new community, so I decided to create a profile and see what sort of answers I can find here.

I'll start with a few things about me. Probably my 2 biggest attributes are my nerdiness and my shyness. I have an array of interests including sci-fi, fantasy, anime, Magic the Gathering, video games, music, comics, and science. I've also traveled a bit in my life and love sharing stories about my trips. I've also wanted to be a girl at least since I was in middle school. I used to be one to reject these feelings resulting in a lot of money wasted on binge and purge cross-dressing.

I'm here to hopefully learn more about being transgender. I'm trying to build up a community of support and find answers to where I can get some help.

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It is quite liberating to acknowledge to yourself who you really are, isn't it. I'm just so pleased you did that, because from here on in, it's just a matter of sorting out the details. Which in itself can take a lifetime.  :laugh:

I think I basically stated where I am already in my first post, but I must say this last week my self-acceptance has definitely improved a lot. I will admit that today I'm starting to feel a bit anxious to get started on transitioning. I know that I need to get some professional help, which I hope to do soon. I already tried contacting my city's lgbt center, but haven't heard back yet. I figure that I will stop by and introduce myself this weekend. I know I'm going to have quite a few questions in the near future and you can bet that I will be visiting these forums often to ask them.
