Regardless of the nature of one's gender deviation, one thing is clear: It's not exactly appreciated. Most Americans understand and accept only two sexes, two genders. Small wonder so many transgender-identified people face blatant discrimination and violent assault on a regular basis.
Paisley Currah, coeditor of Transgender Rights, hopes the new anthology will expand the discussion of trans issues.
