I would just like to introduce myself to the crowd. I've been working on coming to terms with my gender issues since I was very young. Some of my earliest memories involve me wishing I were a girl. Throughout my young life, I repressed my feelings and tried to get along like a typical boy. I was never very good at it though, and growing up in the south can be hell for someone who doesn't mesh with typical southern values.
During my teen years, my feelings really manifested. At first I would only allow myself to accept my feelings as sexual fantasies. As I grew older, these feelings persisted and got stronger. Eventually, I came to accept that I am a woman.
When I met the woman who eventually became my wife, the first thing I told her about me was that I feel the need to be a woman. I guess she found this interesting, because she kept talking to me. As our marriage has gone on, we have explored my gender together, and it has been so liberating.
I feel like I'm at a crossroads now. I want to be who I really am. I've started seeing a therapist, who is very encouraging. I've attended a support group, but I am really awkward socially, so I didn't gain much. I've started taking small steps toward transition. I'm letting my hair grow and taking better care of myself. I want to have my beard removed soon too.
Well, thanks for reading. I look forward to talking with everyone!

Heya,
Firstly, welcome to Susans! Its full of people who are either still considering what these feelings mean, some who are interested in transitioning, others who are actively changing into the gender they wish to be and then theres the amazing men and women who have been through it all and emerged better people on the other side, so you aren't alone :). If you need to get something off your chest, have questions in need of answers or just want someone to lend an ear then im sure theres bound to be someone hear willing to satiate you.
Your wife sounds awesome! I'm happy for you that you can be this open with her and have her to share your experience with. At the start, I know you can't wait to jump in headfirst and go all in, but most of the time, slow progressive steps can be much easier - for both yourself and the others around you.
Anyway, feel free to share anything/everything and all the best!

Hi gapeach,
A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. I'm just soooo pleased for you, that you have such a wonderful support person, in your wife, and you are in therapy. Everything is really going your way. I hope you are really proud of your achievements.
How you started out in life is just so normal, that I'm starting to believe, anyone who hasn't experienced this type of development isn't normal ;D
Keep the positive outlook you have for your future and just keep doing what you are doing, because you do it so well.
I guess Bexi has said it all. She has her finger right on the pulse.
I look forward to hearing you further successes in time to come, however in the meantime, be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine
