Title: Jonathan Ross talks to Paris Lees
Post by: Padma on July 28, 2012, 05:59:38 AM
Paris Lees interviews Jonathan Ross (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P10XtpbMwVg#)

Paris Lees interviews Jonathan Ross about his transphobic joke and response to people's complaints (35mins long) - this is a pretty positive conversation okay, he's being pretty defensive, actually.

I notice he keeps going on about never having met anyone trans until... and completely ignoring the possibility that he's met trans people without realising it, in the same way that as a kid he very likely met gay people and didn't realise it.

It was inappropriate yes but I've made and will probably continue to make jokes about being trans myselfand if a non trans person made my favourite joke they would be crucified in the popular media looking for a moral high ground to jump on

And the first mainstream trans comedians will tell those same jokes some of us are horribly offended by look at the jokes Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock would they tell the same jokes they do if they were white?
