Title: Tip for those trying to change school records
Post by: tgchar21 on August 03, 2012, 01:46:37 PM
I recently heard a story about someone whose child's last name was changed (father/stepfather or something like that) and requested the school to update the records. The school said that the name on record must match what is on the child's birth certificate, so they had to get that amended in order to make the change.

Although not a TG-related story at all, that may give a tip for those on here who are trying to get a school to change their name and/or gender on (U.S.) K-12 school records: Present your new/amended birth certificate (assuming you can get one), not just the name-change order or a surgeon's letter. If the school's policy is like the one mentioned here that may help (different states and school districts of course have different policies so YMMV).
