Title: SRS surgeon choice
Post by: Madison Leigh on August 06, 2012, 12:02:51 PM
Maybe this isn't the forum to ask this but I was wondering about the choice of a SRS surgeon.  Specifically for those residing in the United States I was wondering what the prevailing reasons were for choosing to go to Thailand versus having the surgery done here by somebody like Dr. Bowers, Dr. McGinn, etc.  Is it purely cost, or is the work over there (at least by certain surgeons) that much better in general than it is here, or are there other considerations?  I'm still a good ways away from having to make that choice, but I felt the more research I did beforehand the better off I'd be in the long run.

Don't forget about Brassard in Montreal...he's my top choice. That has partly to do with his being a 7hr drive from me, and in the same country (Canada).

I hadn't really given him much thought; but after doing some research, it seems like the way he handles the "aftercare" is definitely something to consider.

Resting comfortably in my hotel suite south of bangkok, eleven or so days post op with Dr suporn, I can only say I am astonished at his skill, the caring of his staff, the utterly full service curb to curb treatment you get coming here, the two dozen trans girls rotating through the clinic on a monthly basis (all with grins on their faces)..... Nobody does a procedure like suporn, at least in my two years of research I did not find any. My depth is over seven inches, and there are effectively 2 clitorises (1 normal position, 1 hidden inside the labia minora, suporn's special technique :) Obviously we usually hopefully only get one srs surgery per life (isn't that enough??) so I can't compare his work directly to that of others', but I was lucky enough to visit thailand six months ago to vet the surgeons.... I don't want to name names, but Suporn, while the most expensive, was an amazing clinic, amazing clients, and it wasn't even a close decision. By the way, do not go to Dr Pichet. I think he nearly did one of us in last month (the threads are around here somewhere).

Anyway, I could sing the man's praises all night, but I should get some sleep.... strongly consider saving up for the best. Cheers!
