Title: what online therapists would you recommend?

I think it would be beneficial for me to speak to a therapist that is familiar with gender issues. The problem is there are none in my small city. I don't have much money.
Any suggestions? Please and many thank yous.

I do think it would be a good idea because of where I am, but I don't know of any good ones.
I did talk to Dr. Peveller a few times, but he was very unprofessional like telling me what I should or should not think, barely asked me any questions about myself or answered any questions I tried to ask, said that all transmen are straight, "can't you just be a tomboy or butch lesbian?" and stuff like that. When he didn't show up for an appointment, I figured enough was enough.

Maybe you should look into Dr. Carl Bushong if all else fails. I believe he calls you long distance.

Here is a link to a website that I used when I started to look for a therapist.
The info you will see is my search results, but maybe you will be able to do a search and find one in your area.

Hope this will be of some help to you.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Unfortunately, I can't afford Dr. Bushong and, while that website is probably a good resource, it only showed one therapist in my area and she is unfamiliar with gender issues.

Didn't you say you were in Canada? If so, how does the system work? Do you have to find and pay for your own therapist?

Some therapists are public and most are private. I have to find my own therapist.

Ugh. That kinda sucks. Well, I wish I had a recommendation for online/phone therapists, but I do in-person therapy. Forum Admin did his online, but it might well have been with Peveller.
If you can't do in-person therapy yourself, you might want to alter your subject line and add the word "online." I don't know what else to tell you, but I hope you get what you need.

Yeah, from what I've read, Peveller used to be pretty good, but has been going downhill with signs like "irrational anger" (quoted from a review). Last I heard, he was hospitalized. :-\

My therapist is Mary Dyson. She lives just outside Toronto and will work through phone/email/skype. I pay $40/session. She has a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Toronto. Kind of new-agey, likes to utilize astrology, but she will lay off it if you're adverse. She's LGBT herself. I can give you her email if you're interested.
