Usual morning rant.

Of all the things I hate from my body, my hands are usually the worst. Short, stubby, wide fingers and a big palm. I always move with closed hands so they don't look that short.




I get green with envy every time I see somebody with long fingers, and it is one of the things that keep me from fully wanting to start transitioning... Genetics are a pain.

I'm a transguy and I hate my hands and feet.

Not only are my fingers short but they're skinny too.

I have to accept it though because HRT is not going to make my fingers longer.

Apples, your fingers are just fine and in proportion to your hands.  And, in my opinion, long, spindly, fingers can be frightening.

You can give the impression of longer fingers by growing out your nails, or using artificial nails, when you are are transitioning.

I keep trying to not to worry about it and accept the fact, but... Sheesh, apart from my falling hair, is the only thing of my body I can't fix.

Aw, Apples, your hands look fine. The also seem very well maintained.  :) I worked in construction for seven years so my hands are pretty badly scarred in places. Its also taken me a while soften them up from the rough and calloused macho hands they were before. The only thing I have going for me is that they've always been proportionately small. But yours, they're beautiful.

Thanks. I guess I should start caring about them too, or at least use gloves before lifting weights instead of scarring the skin...

Odd enough, I get told a lot that I should cut my nails. I don't know if I just keep forgetting about them, or if really want them somewhat longer...


I so much hope that HRT will give me some peace of mind and make me stop caring about every little detail. The gender therapist will be back on september, so I hope we can start soon.

Have you tried nail polish that doesn't come to the sides of the nail. I have been told it makes the fingers look a little longer. Personally I think they look quite normal length.

If you prefer women, remember what they call a Lesbian with long nails?

I've noticed that a lot of t-girls have fingers roughly my size, but thiner. If that change can happen with time, I'd be quite happy with it.

Seriously though, I found a lot of the things that scared me the most ended up being kind of a non-issue. Like my height, for example. Six foot is tall for a girl. The result? I get a lot of compliments on my height. Weirdness. On the other hand I still kind of hate my shoulders, even though I know at some level that they aren't actually disproportionate, they still bother me.

Dysphoria kind of distorts our perception quite a bit. No, your fingers aren't going to win any length competitions. But they don't look particularly hefty. Heh, you should see my dad's. The good news is you do start to feel better over time after you start doing stuff about it. The bad news? No, your bone structure will not shrink on HRT. Muscle loss? Yes. Bones? No. Your ring size could go down a little, but it won't be dramatic.

I hands just like yours and I love them. I much prefer being smaller to larger.  :)

Tall girls are the coolest thing ever... unless you are Tom Cruise.

That could be an improvement. Last time I put a ring I needed half an hour and grease to remove it.
