Title: Feeling pretty good :)
Post by: kristin? on August 19, 2012, 09:19:32 AM
Went to my first support group meeting last Saturday and it was great, really gave me a lot of hope and self-confidence. :) The people there were great and really encouraging. I went fully dressed up (which apparently isn't really normal for first timers), and I never felt more like myself. It was a pretty mixed group, a few who were just checking things out, weren't sure about what they want in the gender spectrum, some about where I'm at, and some who had already gone all the way, both mtf and ftm. They all said I'm very fortunate to be starting at my age (will be twenty in less than a month), and how thin I am (around 117lb, about 5'10" or 5'11"), I was even asked if my hair was my natural hair after the meeting, I didn't really know what to say at first lol. Something I've always struggled with was my self-image and self confidence, but I've never felt more confident and, dare I say, beautiful :)

Hung out with another member from the group the other day, both of us in full boy mode, just talked about our lives and stuff. She's about in the same boat as me, though she recently started T-blockers (hope I can soon >.>).

It was nice just being able to talk to someone besides my therapist about things, especially with someone who is going through the same things I am. It's like everthing I'm seeing and reading online is suddenly real. I was very excited to find a place not 15 minutes away that trans people get together, in South Carolina of all places. I'm really looking forward to the next meeting (which is the day before my birthday), and taking this journey with such great people :)

It's so awesome that you're able to physically meet trans people in a safe enviroment.
I personally have found that it helps a great deal!

It's a very personal journey ->-bleeped-<-, but it's great to share!

Thanks for sharing Kristin.

Love

Jen
