Title: Post-op HRT dosage

Last year I switched from ethinylestradiol to Progynova and ever since I have been experiencing hot flashes. It's not as bad as when I go off hrt and have one every 30 minuttes but rather about 8-12 a day. Though it is not a hugh problem it is a bit annoying not to be able to drink a cup of coffee or eat a hot meal without sweating like a pig. Also it disrupts my sleep. Does anyone know if this could be indicative of my E levels being too low?

See your doctor, but it certainly sounds like the symptoms of menopause in a natal woman.

It does, doesn't. On my way to the doctor now but he can be a bit difficult when it comes to my hrt so I thought I'd ask here first.

That is interesting. I have never had a hot-flash, even when I have gone without estrogen (post-op). I recently ordered ethinyl estradiol for the first time (never tried it before) so will have to wait and see.

It would be smart to make an appointment with your doctor right away. Usually trans-savvy doctors don't recommend ethinyl estradiol as standard HRT for post-op patients as it is more prone to produce clotting. I can't comment anything further as it's verboten. See your HRT MD!

I will just say that ethinyl estradiol is the strongest acting estrogen you can buy and a tiny tiny little bit of it is stronger than milligrams of anything else. That is why it is dosed in micro-grams. You probably aren't getting nearly the dosage you were previously. But be careful with ethinyl it's the one that causes the most injury and fatality.

What I was told about EE is that it passes through the liver twice as it is broken down to an estradiol derivative on the first pass. The endocrinologist I saw recommended it pre-op as it has anti-androgen effects and my T-leves were a bit high at the time. I'm fine with Progynova as long as I don't have hot-flashes all the time. They annoy me to no end. Especially at night. I'm scheduled for some blood work next week so hopefully I'll get it all sorted out.

So would you say it'd be a good idea to take Progynova + an AA pre-op? (to start HRT, I mean)

I think it fantastic you are getting blood work. It is the only way to really know what is going on.
