Title: Two in One question

Whatever happened to ethinylestradiol? Does anyone here use that anymore? The only trans girls I know who took it aren't exactly "young girls" anymore (meaning not since the late eighties/early nineties).
My doctor wants to put me on provera to help me gain weight and he thinks it would just round out my regimen and help with fat redistribution, but would cycling on microgest be better for that? Experiences?

ethinyl estradiol is still around, just used mostly by ignorant DIY'ers since the risks of it are too much for most people even when monitored by a physician. As far as progesterone, there are cases of where it supposedly works and some where it doesn't, and there's little evidence outside personal experiences of it helping trans people. (myself being in the group of where it has done nothing noticeable)

I had them prescribed to me by an endocrinologist for 7 years without problems. I liked them fine.

When I took EE early during HRT (DIY) some 2 years back, it seemed less problematic than now taking E2... under prescription.
Maybe my liver was just fine with it at this early transition/pre-op stage?
Maybe my system changed and got more 'responsive' to too much E2?
If taken too much (say double dose) I get the exact same vasomotor symptoms as having too little E2 in my system. It's a known thing to happen...
I'd only know by going back to EE, which I have not considered..., as it's NOT the normally prescribed hormone regimen for menopause/hysterectomised females either.

I've been on estradiol hemihydrate for many years. Is that ethinylestradiol?

I'm not to sure about ethinylestradiol, but in IMO which isn't much, I have found for me the progesterone has benefited my figure during my transition. Now that being said it does come with some side effects. I have become more emotional, I have more cravings for junk food, and I believe that it has made me a bit lethargic at times. I only take the pill once per day and I have to take it in the PM. That way the side effects are less intense.
It's funny that there are so many different opinions that you will get on this topic. Is progesterone worth it or not? I would say just trust your doctor. If you can't do that then find another one that you can trust. Honestly a lot of opinions that you will get on this topic will differ greatly. You and your doctor will be the judge ultimately if this working or right for you or not.
good luck
