So, I got my new driver's license.  Yup.  It has the "F" I always wanted on it.  Cept, I didn't change my gender marker yet.  So, I have to get it changed to an "M" so it matches my name and photo so I can change it back to an "F" in a year or two!?!

Is this funny?  I can't tell.

well if your clean shaven and have a gender nutral name they might have made a mistake .. or maybe they have transdar and wanted to help you   ;)

Excuse my imprecision.  I didn't legally change my gender marker yet.  So I think that means I have to deal with this instead of just carrying on.

This is just like SO unfair!  And absurd.  And what the heck are the odds!?!

And how much do you want to bet, how much do you want to bet, this is going to cause some paper to be put on file so when I finally get my marker legally changed the state will change it back to an "M".

No, my male name is decidedly male.  I'm willing to consider the transdar as a possibility though.

I only changed my drivers license and my name is still Ryan. 

I think you did the same thing as me right?  or is there since ssa marker?  where is gender stored? driver license, birth certificate? what else?

Keep that one, if there's any issue pretend you didn't notice. Then blame the registry.

I checked "M" when I filled out my drivers license paper work because I had to.  I remember cause that always bothers me.

When they sent me my drivers license (took em' a month) it says "F" under "Sex".  Tween my name and picture, having that beautiful "F" there would create more problems than solve at this moment in time.

I'd keep it, but, I like beer and happily at 34 I still get carded a lot.

I would definitely keep it.  It is an error on the part of DMV.  You did nothing wrong.

Well, no, you don't. After all, you didn't notice it was wrong. Who looks at that stuff? Honest, you would have fixed it if you'd known, but you trusted the state to get it right.

As far as DMV and the Great God of the Electrons in their back office you are quite likely forever an F, legally or otherwise.

And.... really, no one looks at that stuff as long as the picture loks a little somthing like you. Do you really want to spend half a day at the DMV straightening that out. And likel being charged for the privledge?

BTW - another DMV foulup story. One time my wife got her DL renewed. First time post 9-11, lots of extra paperwork. After she gets home she takes a second look at it as she puts it into the right home in her wallet. "Issue Date: Sept 27, 2003" "Epiration Date: Sept 27, 2003"  WTF! So she goes back, with another pile of paperwork, half a day, and $25.00 poorer it got fixed. Their response to this obvious typo. "See the sign? Check ALL documents before leaving window"

And we want these people to run our healthcare?

This is like a great television series where the characters are always doing the wrong thing.  Or like a horror movie, "No... don't go down into that dark old cellar!"

Whatever you decide, I am perfectly fine with it ^_^ .  Go get that M on your driver's license if that's what you want.

The DMV changed mine to "F". I never did switch it back.

Three other girls I know had the same thing happen to em as well.

I'd love to keep my new F.  It's the only F I've ever wanted.

But I bet it was a computer that did this!  I make em' work so hard, they have to be the pranksters!

Or someone added an extra semi-colon somewhere in the code (or something) and didn't notice.

I'd love to get to a point in my life where I'm not defined so much as being a trans woman, rather, just be seen as the woman I am.  Still if I get to write my auto biography, maybe it'd make for a good chapter title Amazon D.
