Title: Mourning the Loss of Newport News

Newport News has long been my favorite mail order fashion source. It predates the Internet as a catalog seller and was always known for it's tasteful but saucy selection, great photography, great models and great prices.
It saddened me when I clicked my link to Newport-News.com to find it now leads to Spiegel.com, it's former parent company's site. You find a page called the "Newport News Boutique", which only includes 48 items, most of which don't really seem to have that Newport News look to me. There's nothing wrong with Spiegel, but it's lines are different and prices run noticeably higher. I've ordered from Newport with some regularity over the years and I'll really miss it. I'll especially miss their clearance section, where I used to score some amazing buys.
Alas, in the end I suppose it succumbed to basically being bought out by it's competition. I don't think Spiegel felt motivated to keep Newport News up with the changing times. I'll miss you Newport.
