Title: estrogen making you feel unsexy?

I don't know why, but i've been feeling like estrogen is really taking a toll on my sexual confidence.
I do notice that when i'm not on estrogen, the testosterone motivated sex drive isn't something I really enjoy either, but estrogen almost creates like this void inside me. It's really quite strange. I will ofcourse talk to my doc about this and maybe alter my dosage a bit or something but i'm really having a hard time feeling satisfied sexually lately. The weird thing is.. I actually do feel sexy, but when it comes to actually engaging in intercourse, that is when i have the trouble!
Anyone else feel similarly?

It is a known fact by now that ORAL Estrogen stimulates the liver to produce more SHBG which binds therefor lots more Free T... the stuff that actually is responsible for one's libido.
Then there is of course the psychological side to it all... TS/TG/CD... that is another enquiry yet, you best take up with your therapist, I suggest.

Anne Vitale has some similar observations:

That makes the assumption that there is any amount of T worth binding.. My T levels are so low as to make no odds, I still have a very functional libido - the comment I will make about my libido is that I now find myself looking for something different to what I was pre-HRT..

As Kelly said if there is no T to bind to then it's a moot point. My libido is still there, just different. Hard to explain how.

There always will be T to bind even with very low Total T, this EVEN after SRS or Orchie... unless the adrenal glands are gone too...
Total T is in NO way ANY indication of how much Free T is present, this is only a function of the SHBG levels.
Natural born females (XX chromosomes) may have too much Free T with naturally low normal Total T levels ( ~ 10% of female population). This is due to a too LOW SHBG level. A condition causing anovulation also known as Poly-Cystic-Ovary-Symptom (PCOS)

I didn't mention what tests I'd had done, merely that my levels are low.. Funnily enough, Free T level was tested.. And it is close to non-existent.
Of course, neither I or my health care professionals have any idea what we are doing.. Right? My gyno is unable to correctly read the results from the Path lab.. And the pathologist is not able to do a radioimmunoassay in order to determine my Free T level..

Not sure if you want to sound facetious – so let's just say you not... :)
It is VERY difficult to determine Free T... very, and it is the reason why FAI (Free Androgen Index) was/is used and again even this is ... well so, so - but apparently still a better indicator than Free T.
FAI = Total T / SHBG * 100 and this than has a certain range...
Now if you were facetious, and I have an idea... then you go with flow :)

Thank you ... this is incredibly interesting and it explains an awful lot of what I've been feeling all my life.

You suggest shooting T?
This will create a whole lot of new imbalanced as or body always will try to balance things.
Next thing your T shot will aromatase into E... :o
Not recommended (by me),

(cant discuss dosages) to see if things would improve. Things got worse. libido went to zero and the feminine changes started.

Did some research and discovered that my former heavy drinking was stifling my liver and dumping all the additional T made my E levels jump.
But For the first time in my life i had mental clarity. it was like waking up from a foggy dream into a sunny morning filled with cheerfulness and optimism. I could write a book on the wonders of those 3 weeks.
This was what start my transgender journey.
I cut my drinking way back and in the course of the past 4 month its all gone.
I had to stop the T because of aggression and hair growing all over me. Shocking because i never had body hair. I don't like it as it makes me feel dirty.
Im dealing with the psychological and sociological aspects of gender throughout my life as well as can be expected and am planning to start low does E this next summer.
So now im back to my low T self. I was using T to go from m2M and now im m2A going on F by using E.
Oy... :P

Dear Torn 1990, you have started a very interesting thread. It is very difficult to say exactly why you feel the way you do. Obviously it must have something to do with Estrogen therapy and hormonal balance. Having said that, cross gender hormone therapy is a science but not an exact one. We all experience different variation in our physical and emotional transitions.
It took me months to loose my "male friskyness" and now I dont feel as horny all the time. However I do feel more passionate and I lust after men a lot more. One very odd side effect is that over the past year I have reasched orgasm in my sleep! :o I have woken to find (unfortunately) things standing to attention. It is never "full on" but I climax. It's completely dry. I think I only ever has what could be called a "wet dream" as a teenage boy. Now I am getting them as woman with puberty second time around. It has only happended 3 times in the past year but it is very bizarre indeed. My T and E levels are in the female range and I am feminising very well? Go figure ??? It is unexpected but not totally unwelcome especially when you are dreaming as a woman having sex with a man!
I don't know how or why we experience the things we do as transwoman. I used to worry about it all the time. Now I just go with the flow and take each day day as it cums (whoops sorry) comes. (couldn't resist that one >:-)
