Title: Is hysterectomy enough to change sex on birth certificate in Michigan?

Pretty much what the title says. I understand that sex-reassignment surgery is needed in Michigan, but I have no way of affording this.. Does anyone know if they would count a hysterectomy, and if a doctor would be willing to sign the required affidavit, considering that it's basically lying?

Well depending on how the law is worded, some people have gotten away with chest reconstruction and/or histo even if the law says "sex reassignment". Since in most cases the law isn't defining this, the letter can say something to the effect that "________________ has completed all steps necessary for gender reassignment." Or that "______________ has completed irreversible surgery needed to complete gender reassignment" or some combination. No one lies and no one gets hurt.
I can't guarantee that this works, as I am assuming it goes down to who handles the paper work.

This is the wording from the Michigan.gov website
QuoteMichigan Vital Record Division's medical affidavit, completed by the physician that performed the reassignment surgery, certifying that genital sex-reassignment surgery has been successfully completed. The affidavit must be notarized.
