Title: Drink like a man/lady

Lurking among the coffee lovers of the internet, made me think about how being able to drink black coffee is considered "manly". I can't even drink coffee, even saturated with cream and sugar because of the bitter aftertaste. Yet somehow I'm pretty sure that if I ever do end up liking coffee, it would be easy to acquire a taste for black. Since I've managed to go from only accepting milk chocolate as a kid to being able to munch on dark cacao chocolate (with the bonus of no one else in the family being able to eat/steal them hahaha). I usually drink dark hot chocolate when everyone else drinks coffee.
How do you like your drinks? Do any of you have any "manly drinks" or "lady drinks" related stories to share?

I like to drink Twinings Lady Grey, or Peppermint Tea, neither with milk, or Australian afternoon Tea with a little Mil;k. The only thing I drink is an occasional glass of Australian Shiraz. White Wine and my Estrogen seems to knock me for six!!

I've started to really enjoy Lapsang Souchong tea, for me it has a heavy taste that I can sip for a long time. No way a 'quick cuppa' very subtle.

Being half Italian, I acquired the taste of espresso coffee, which is cappuccino coffee but without all the milk and froth. But I do so much more prefer cappuccino because I like my drinks to last longer than the second it takes to drink espresso.
I didn't know there were manly or lady drinks. Which drink should I acquire the taste of to appear more feminine?

Being an American of Northern and Southern European heritage I like a nice dark coffee when I get up and some herbal tea in the afternoon along with a glass of fruit juice
In the evening I'll have a few beers but don't get real crazy with it and I drink a lot of plain old water
The only place I've heard of manly or lady drinks is at bars in much younger days :D

If you like dark chocolate/cocoa drinks then you'll probably like a really well brewed cup of dark roast coffee. Ya just gotta find a place that brews it well, or maybe give it a shot yourself.
my favorite drinks are the manliest and girliest of all: the manhattan, and a lemonade&grenadine with a double shot of vodka and lemon slices and cherries in it. apparently that last one isn't named yet.

If you ever go to a Willie Nelson show hang out at the bar for a few minutes and all you will here is:
Can I get a shot of Jack and a Bud, and a BudLite for the little lady?
All night long, it's like the only thing anyone orders. So yeah, for the guys a shot of Jack (Jack Danials, Black Label) with a Bud back, and a diet beer for the girl.
More macho
Liquor (whiskey, tequila) shots - or preferably straight from the bottle.
Beer
More fem
Wine, the sweet whites like Chardonnay in particular
Wine Coolers
after dinner liquors
anything with chocolte in it
Nothing is more fem than a Brandy Alexander

I remember years ago "Bartles and James" (a fruity wine-type drink in a green bottle)and "Zima" (clear, in a clear octagonal ( ? ) bottle were considered (among the 20-something set) to be "women's drinks"...I don't know if they still make those.
I've always had people insist I should stop drinking "kid's drinks" (i.e., Coke/Pepsi) and start drinking "like an adult" (coffee, never tea--tea is a woman's drink)...screw that, I said. Coffee is bitter, and if you make it "right" it's only a little less bitter, but never good to my taste buds...
For alcohol drinks, I only do rum and cokes (heavy on the rum), or whiskey sours.
:)

Ugh I don't like coffee, it's not really considered a girly or a manly drink here though no matter how you have it, same with tea. I drink tea like a fish though, it's gotta be nice and milky with no sugar.
Anything in a pint is considered manly though I know of plenty of women who regularly drink pints. I suppose the manliest drink I have is a pint of Guiness. Doesn't taste anywhere near as nice as it does in Ireland though.
My most girly drink would have to be either Malibu and coke or Amaretto and coke but again I know plenty of guys who drink them.

I supposed 'doing' tea might not be considered all that macho (unless you are Chinese) but I don't see any difference between men and woman drinking tea and coffee. Seems about equal number on both sides.
And I don't know about man/lady - but I do know that a good person of either sex handles their drinking when they are out in public. It's OK to get third bardo, three sheets to the wind, blackout/passout if you must - but please do it at home. Hard to say which gender looks worse ralphing on their shoes, or acting like an obnoxious fool, or worse, some sort of maudlin fable come to life.

I like water, Twinings Lady Grey, Pepsi Max, red and white wine, martini and various sweet liquour. I have only recently developed a liking to coffee after a period of ridiculous amounts of paperwork in the evenings. It should be accompanied by cookies though. Or chocolate, that works too.
I couldn't care less if a drink is considered manly or girly. If I like it, bottoms up! (But in moderation, I dislike being intoxicated)

I drink coffee. Black and strong. I also drink it iced. And with cream and sugar. Depending on my mood.
I drink tea, iced.
Alcohol: Beer. Guinness of course ( I am Irish after all ). I have drank Cosmos. If I am in the mood I will have a James Bond ( vodka martini, shaken not stirred.). And of course my stand-by, Gin and tonic.
Don't do wine. Never could stand the taste.

I drink a lot of coffee, at home and at work. Even my sister in law sent me a few things of coffee in the mail just because I like it so much. But no weird flavors, just regular coffee with some sugar in it. No cream and expressos give me a headache much like energy drinks do. I also like tea, hot or sweet ice tea(southern style). I hate beer, but used to drink a fair bit of crown, but rarely ever now. I may have some wine every now and then or a mimosa, but I weaken the wine down with some ginger ale. I don't drink enough water though. I drink one soda a day, sometimes I skip a while with sodas too. just depends. I like my koolaid though, lol. And milk.
edit: oh and lots of juice too, especially if I get hot and need to cool off,

I like sweet stuff. I don't particularly care whether it's considered "girly."
