I wake up this morning to an e-mail alert on my phone. It says that my bank covered an overdraft. Of what you may ask?
Well, on October 11th, I paid Credo Mobile over the phone, and I got a text immediately after saying that it didn't go through because of something with my bank. Well, I decided to go to my banking website and pay the bill through there and it was successful.
Turns out that what happened was that the text message was false and that they did take the money. So instead of paying $425, it took out $850 from my account. What does this do to me? Well, I needed that money to go to school and pay bills and whatnot. In essence, I am screwed until November. Thanks Credo. Get your damned bill pay feature fixed properly so that doesn't happen again.

Jeez!! That sucks!
This is why I don't use electronic forms of bill payment.

I'm having not dissimilar problems with my former phone provider, Orange.
Despite their promising me I could change my tarrif when I needed to, they refuse, 2 years ago, insisting I see out the term of my contract.
That was due to end in September. I cancelled in August.
In September, they denied they had received any cancellation and insisted I make a new one, starting then.
Now, they have issued me with a rather large bill, claiming I owe them for unpaid line rental, since the date of the latest cancellation.
Apologies if I seem to be hijacking your thread, I make this point in sympathy.

Talk to your banker, if they're worth a twit they can get that money back in your account pretty quickly. Been there and done that. Got a nice lady banker, she likes dark chocolate...grease the wheels and the wagon runs smoother! ;D

Jill,
I had a similar problem with a phone company that starts with a (V) and filed a claim with my state attorney general's office. The word I kept hearing had been can't, which changed to will do within 24 hours. The big companies just assume that we'll all lie down and take it, you have to reach in your tool bag and pull out the biggest hammer and smack them down to get their attention.

The good ones get the treats, that bad guys get all I can give back under the law. Since this is a family site I won't say what I had been really thinking, but it had to do with pins and spoons. ;D

I actually talked to the company themselves a couple moments ago. While Credo's credo is genuinely left leaning, they also know good customer service. They understood that a mistake was made and have offered to send me a check for the overage that I paid. The amount is enough to pay the next bill, my DirecTV bill and enough to get me to school until November when I get another payment.

I've closed my bank account, I don't have any income anyway. I can't afford lawyers. I tend to think these people will just try to harass me until they think there's no point.

Ok, now I'm back to the Damn You! Instead of the check being sent UPS, the accounting department sent it regular mail. Instead of me having the money today and having it safely in my bank account, it's going to be here monday and I can't do anything with the money til Wednesday because of school, meaning I have to eat a $35 overdraft fee because of it all. To make matters worse, I have to take the last $18 out of my account today otherwise it gets drained tomorrow when DirecTV gets taken out tomorrow just so I can go to school. And to think their service was going to be cheaper than others. Instead, it's overly pathetic and it makes me want to vote for Mitt Romney just to spite the bastards.
