So today we found out that my SO cant start councling till we come up with 2700 dollars of our own first so the deductible will kick in. We really don't have that kind of money. I just wish things were different. You shouldn't need money to get the help you need. And he needs this. Slow we are doing little things to make him feel more comfortable but at the end of the day it's not enough. An it kill me because there's nothing I can do about it.
Feeling helpless and angry and useless.

Well, you're both in it together, so the number is only $1,350 each, that's a little easier to reach! You can probably get at least a little help sokewhere along the line and that brings it down a little more. Not having money for the things you want might be frustrating, but don't let it be an insurmountable hurdle. Hugs, Devlyn

Thanks devlyn ( I hope I spelled that right sorry I'm trying go do this on my phone)
It just sucks you know. I don't think it's right if someone needs help they should be able to get it. I just want him to be able to do all the things he hasn't been able to do. Like take his shirt off in public, and all the other everyday things guys do. It kills me to watch him have to go through this.

I know it's all relative. I see people in here who long for a surgery, that many will never have, that costs less than some people I know spend on a weekend in Vegas. But for people who are living on the margins (and that's a lot of people these days), on minimum wage or not much over, who, along with a lot of people are basically only one paycheck away from being homeless - that's a huge amount to have 'extra.'

Check to see if there is anything available through the school. Some schools have low cost or free clinics.

Ms. OBrien.
Thanks I will look into that. The little help he gets through work doesn't help us at all in this situation.

we together struggle
Well at least you're not alone in that, I think it describes a lot of people under 35, and I don't think a lot of these older girls really understand how close to the bone people are living these days.

No they don't family keeps saying "just hold on the money will come" but I don't think you should have to wait for something like this and he has been waiting 23 years. How much longer does he have to go through this. And they act like the money's just going to fall out of a tree.

we are faced with the same issues here. There is never enough to get where we need. Granted the things we are doing now are 'optional' like laser hair removal. But seeing her face when she has to shave makes is essential to me for her to have it gone for good.
There are low cost therapist all over the place though if you know where to look....look for someone who works on 'sliding scale' and you may not need to use your insurance. They work with you based on income so it is affordable for you.
Hoping the quarter my daughter buried in the yard for her treasure hunt magically sprouts a money tree =)

They are optional but they mean so much. Just to be able to do certain things or not have to do others. My SO recently stopped shaving his legs and was so excited to tell me yesterday that the hair was long enough it started to curl lol. I have just been really upset lately like the other day we went swimming and he wanted to take his shirt off but he can't and he started to cry. I just wish I could help but with stuff like this I can't. And I hurts to watch him go through it.

As GypsySoul said, there are therapists that work on a sliding scale. Because of my current situation, I'm not able to talk to a therapist locally. I went online and found someone that's close to my home and I've done a few skype sessions with her. There were intro costs of $60 an hour and I've only done three hours so far. After the intro period it was a sliding scale - basically, pay what you can afford between xx and xxx. It seems like your insurance is asking you to put out a lot of money up front just to get started. Can't you simply pay the hourly rate as you're able and then they pay after you hit your deductible limit? And if you don't need a psychiatrist at $300 an hour - perhaps a therapist would be better - much cheaper.
good luck!
good luck!
