Title: What I really miss.
Post by: spacial on November 04, 2012, 08:31:45 AM
One thing I really do miss is sitting down with a group of close friends, preferably in front of a big fire and someone bringing a tray with a pot of tea, under a cosy, with cups, saucers, milk and sugar.

We'd all sit while it brewed, until finally, the cosy was removed, revealing a large, earthenware teapot, with more random glaze cracks than stars in the sky. Then listen to it pour, the golden brown. We'd help ourselves to sugar and stir it, clink, clink.

There's be a second cup. We'd chat or just stare at the flames, dancing over the coals.

Now it's a big mug, tea bag. others have coffee.

I like a big mug of tea. But I miss traditional tea.

Jill, you described the scene so well, I feel like I'm there! And I've never had a traditional tea! Hugs, Devlyn

Let me know when the tea whistles. I'm coming over.

You should visit my mother-in-law's farm. Every day involves a pot of tea and a roaring fire. It also involved a trip to the wood shed in the fading daylight to stock up for the night. Personally I like to sleep in front of the fire. Every so often I wake and toss a log or two on to keep the fire going but it is lovely and, although my sleep is broken, I feel really good the next day.
