Title: FOOD!

Ok this is beginning to really bother me. I'm eclipsing now on my 5th month on HRT and it seems like over the last two and half weeks my appetite has increased significantly. I can't seem to eat enough to stop feeling hungry and I'm in fear of blowing up like a blimp. Its been very hard for me to avoid sweets I find myself indulging in chocolate or other sweets 2 days a week. lol. I weigh 145 now pretty consistently down from 180. I don't want to gain anymore weight and would like to get on the other side of 140. I use to run every day and I have cut that out because I didn't want to develop any more muscle in my calves. Sorry for the rant I just wanna know if anyone else is experiencing this and is it normal. I feel like its my body telling me to eat more because it needs it. Second puberty? Is this what teenage girls go threw? I don't wanna lose my flat stomach!

If you're really concern, drink more water. Low on calories and fills you up quickly. If you want to be more conscious about you're calorie intake, go to a free calorie tracker, like from live strong. Also if you have a smart phone you can keep dl their app and keep track on the go. Basically you can eat whatever you want, just know how many calories you're consuming so you don't go over board. Hope this helps.

might be, im having the same problem. I dont like sweets tho. I've been craving onion rings. and fried shrimp. Things like that. It drives me nuts. Its made quitting smoking a nightmare. cause after I laid of the smokes, my appetite exploded. I drink insane amounts of water trying to trick my stomach into thinking its full. But yeah if have to label it a second puberty, I thought my chest was sore before, good god was I wrong. I've noticed other weird things. My nails it feels like I clip them and by the end of the week I got claws again. My hair feels smoother and less fluffy but my scalp is dry as the mojave. and my favorite soda dr. pepper now tastes like cough medicine. not happy about that one bit.

Yeah, it is a problem. I have to find a way to curb my appetite and eat smaller portions. I am doing the wrong eating habits I never did before! You have to be careful, the spiro and the HRT will increase your appetite. Not good at my age.

I, too, found that not longer after starting HRT I suddenly felt like I was Ms Pac-man and couldn't stop eating. I'm starting to feel like that's backing off a bit, and I'm at 17 months HRT now.

I went for my Dr. appointment last week for my 6 month checkup and asked her the same thing.
Her response "Most women do this for a week, once a month. You will be like this for about a year and a half....Enjoy." ;D

HRT should decrease hunger in biological males since it slows metabolism and you don't feel that
'angst".

My appetite really hasn't changed much since before hrt and my metabolism seems to be about the same. I still have to try to eat even if I don't feel like it to keep my weight somewhat constant and gaining weight is downright difficult as heck.

Girl... I ate everything when I first started and actually lost 10 lbs before gaining 5 of it back. I was eating more than men that were quite literally twice my size! The body is changing, so it needs fuel to do so! Don't go overboard, but don't be afraid to fill that seemingly endless hole! I know one day I went to a Posados and ate a whole thing of chips n hot sauce, my meal, and another THREE things of chips and hot sauce before I was finally full! And honey... let me tell you, I'm a tiny thing even compared to many cis girls!

Speaking from the other side: I think Dr. Pepper *does* taste like cough medicine. I never thought it was due to estrogen. Perhaps I should try it now, but I might like it.
BTW, guys say T makes them hungry all the time, perhaps it's more a teenage thing.

I did not have cravings for chocolate since my teens. That was nearly 40 years ago. After a while on HRT I got cravings. Oddly(?), more so when it's getting close to time for a shot.
A unique coincidence came about during one of my TG group meetings. It seems quite a few of us developed a craving for vinegar, aka pickled, type foods. Sweets you can expect, but vinegar?
Curious

I lost about 65 lbs that I was wearing from continuing to eat as if I was still 19 but now living a much less active and more sedentary lifestyle. I find that I now eat as much and sometimes less than my 130lb spouse just because I don't require all that fuel even though I'm doing the gym three times a week. If I stoke I wear it, if it's just a single stoking event it goes away, but if it becomes a new habit then I am assured of becoming a fat as* again.

Your not alone Serena!
I weighed quite a bit prior to HRT, but then I lost so much I was actually "underweight" according to the BMI charts (and I was admittedly a "skin and bones") After HRT, and after I moved back in with my parents (I think the latter is the biggest factor :p ) I got my BMI way up lol! If my dad brings ice cream home hell have a bowl, and ill take a little scoop. That will turn into a second, third, fourth...and then the ice cream is all gone!!! Im going to my nonas this afternoon for lunch. Im going to stuff myself silly!!!
I'm like at 21.5 BMI right now so right in the middle a few as far as that goes. A few people have told me I look like I'm underweight and I tell them to kick rocks because I sure the heck don't feel skinny enough. I'm most scared if I put on weight it would go to my belly rather then other "correct" spots of my body.
lol about your ice cream. I will absolutely destroy a bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough with sprinkles! lol

I get extremely excited thinking about ordering greasy pizza delivery and KFC.
Was discussing going to Thailand for my SRS and the most exciting prospect, was.. omg..... !!!!
Sitting in the hotel room, with my netbook, playing oldschool games, and eating some giant pizza. I'm not sure I can type pizza the way I feel it.
PIZZA!!! There, perhaps?
I would just eat pizza all day, and in Thailand, KFC delivers!!!
OMG Charlie, your arteries are clogging up as we speak!

Yeah the weight thing has been an issue for me to. After hormones and srs I put on 45 lbs. Now I'm losing it and it will all be gone by the end of the year. That depo had me craving crazy things like cheeseburgers medium rare with extra pickles and ice cream instead of fries. And I don't even eat beef.

HRT will do it! especially if Progesterone is in the mix, being pregnant does make one get weird and funky with food and amounts of it.
Diet, diet diet, but more so a lifestyle then quick fix diets of commercials and schemes.
I have dedveloped a diet which worked not only for me but also others who followed. If you like I could include a link to it :)
