Title: Reelmagik Basic Packer vs. 5in Sailor Review
Post by: Zerro on November 11, 2012, 09:12:01 PM
I'll add pictures in a while, but I thought I'd get down to the review.

I've had a 5inch Sailor packer for quite a while now(over half a year, I think?), and I do like it! It's a nice product, though I find some flaws in it I'd like to address.

The size is fine, and I can realistically and comfortably pack with it. The details are okay if you're looking for a decent fix, and I like the inner core that gives it a more real feel.

The cyberskin is awful to me, though. I used it carefully, but I found rips in it after the first week. The back part of the balls started to tear after a month, and then a big triangle of material just came clean off as I was washing it one day. It's not a really "sticky" packer, but I found that it would retain dust and fabric material, even after cleaning.

All in all, I would give it 3.5 stars out of 5. It's comfortable, easy to pack with, and isn't bad. The color is flat, yes, but I found it matched alright with my own skin tone anyway.

But since it was falling apart, I purchased a basic packer from Reelmagik. I had read some good reviews of it, and I wanted to purchase their prosthetic, but wanted to try a smaller/cheaper product of theirs first in order to get a feel for their quality.

I have to admit, I'm impressed.

The good:
-The silicone is easy to clean and doesn't hold bits of dirt or fabric like the cyberskin does
-It's incredibly realistic, and I like the balls(hurr hurr), it's even better for packing than the Sailor in my opinion
-The color is a little less vivid, but it blends into my skin tone easier than most other packers do
-I find that it doesn't need to be adjusted as often as the sailor, and hangs pretty naturally
-There's a triangle shaped space that shows you where to comfortably rest the packer for best results

Things I'm not keen on:
-I miss the inner core of the Sailor, as I feel it added more realism to the product overall
-It's a little heavier than the Sailor, so it takes some getting used to
-I feel like the shaft is too small for my body type and would like to see different sizes from Reelmagik in the future
-There are some bubbles in the top layer of silicone, but you don't notice them unless you are actively looking for flaws

I do like the product overall, though, and would give it 4.5/5 stars.

I think I will order a more detailed prosthetic from Reelmagik in the near future, as well.

I have a RM basic packer, don't know what the triangle is (just the shape or something they added to packaging). There might be a few changes-- someone said there were kind of two colors. Nothing I noticed either.

One thing I don't like it doesn't feel so realistic. It looks realistic, but, they aren't rough like that. I agree re: the core on the Sailor.

Thanks for the review Zerro.  I haven't used the Sailor, but I do have the RM Basic Packer, as well as their high end medical prosthetics.  I haven't had many issues with either products.  I think the Basic Packer is very realistic looking for being just a packer.  It is a little on the heavy side, but with a harness it doesn't matter much.  I've been reading a lot of posts about people comparing the RM packer to their high end prosthetics, which is kinda dumb in my opinion.  You are comparing an $80 product to an $800 product...it just doesn't compare.  Of course their high end prosthetics are going to be constructed much better...look at how much they cost.  If you buy the packer to get an idea of quality on their high end prosthetics, you aren't getting the best comparison in my opinion.  The packer is just what it says...BASIC.  That said, I still think it is of better quality than most packers, especially with the 3D balls and skin texture.  I do wish it had a firmer inner core, but I guess you can't get everything you want unless you pay more.

I'm not sure what Aleon515 means by "they arent' rough like that".  Mine doesnt feel rough at all...very soft actually.  What are you referring to?

Codyboy,

Would you say that the prosthetic has a firm inner core (comparable to the Sailor)? Or would one need to get the flex rod model for that?

I've never used a Sailor, so I couldn't say as far as that goes.  The Basic Packer is pretty soft all the way through.  The Medical Prosthetic without the rod is also soft, but it has a slightly firmer inner core, just like a real penis...the outer skin is very soft and flexible, and actually pulls up from the shaft.  I have used it for for intercourse (with a condom of course), but the model I have with the flex rod is much better suited for that.  The one without the rod tends to bend if it's pulled out too far and then pushed back in during intercourse.  Hope that helps:)

Rough is the wrong word. The skin texture just feels wrong to me. It is nice and squishy the way it should be. I do like it. I haven't seen that many reviews. This is maybe the 5th review I have seen (two on youtube, mine and RS on susan's and laura's and this one). I have seen a few comments here and there. I don't do tumblr though.

aleon- i know what you mean when you say rough. It's not smooth like skin, it's more like a rubbery texture. like when you rub your hand down it it sticks to your hand in a friction-y kind of way.

Exactly. I think the texture detail is what does this. There is a lot of detail but because it is only two layers all this detail is on the top layer making it bumpy and friction-y. Even though you look at it and it looks skin, it doesn't feel like it. I'd actually prefer a bit less visual detail for better feel. But they have to make some choices in an inexpensive product.

I have to agree on the texture, but again, different materials create different textures. The Sailor has a decent skin texture on it, it just lacks a lot of the visuals. I'm not a big fan of cyberskin, though. I find that it rips too much, even with gentle/limited use.

Out of all the packers i have owned i have to say rm looks the realist. It may have a lil rough feel due to its lack of lawers, but what do you expect when pay $98 for one. I have put my order in for the advanced already, but as we all no i must wait about a half a year to get it. But hey thats just around the corner...counting my days!!!! I would def recommend to anyone who wants a real looking packer!!! My girl loves it :P

Yeah you either get texture right or visual right. You can't really get them both (for $100). I agree re: cyberskin. It can't be next to me. It makes me break out like crazy.
