Title: Lines are blurring?
Post by: michelle666 on December 06, 2012, 05:03:20 PM
So today I went to work and had to go to the post office, while I was there my new car got backed into by an uninsured driver so I called the cops. When they got there I gave him my license and reg and he looked at it a few times and asked if it was me, three times and looked kinda confused. My license picture is old. I'm about 90 pounds heavier with very short hair.
I thought I was in boy mode because I'm not out at work yet. Granted, my entire outfit is woman's clothes, jeans, hoodie, tshirt and boots and of course its a woman's bra underneath. I'm not fulltime but this is pretty much my daily look.
(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimageshack.us%2Fa%2Fimg248%2F899%2F126ai.jpg&hash=17a349c3a67792a2c4832886d4f7058f990c7f61) (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimageshack.us%2Fa%2Fimg607%2F8593%2F126bx.jpg&hash=bea9e834c4eca5c1895cb7e6b0246ef01e4f2106)

Do you all think I'm kinda slipping from boy mode and not realizing it? I'm wondering how my coworkers see me. No one has asked questions. But one day the nurse gave me a hug and her hand was right on my bra strap, nothing was said though.

I would say you have long slipped away from boy-hood.

Not only have you slipped the moorings of boy mode, but the Good Ship Woman has set sail.

Thanks! I guess coming out is going to come soon then. I wonder if anyone is suspicious about what's going on with me. Only a couple of very close dear friends know.

I am sure the rumor mill at work has been churning out plenty of fodder

I keep to myself for the most part so I have no clue what the rumor mill is like. I work with almost all women so I'm sure it's there.
There was one comment from my manager a few weeks ago. I was wearing red stretch jeans, a stripped shirt and a cardigan and she said "oh my god, your outfit is so cute". And I thought "I wonder if she knows" then I was just happy that I had a cute outfit. She also cimnented one day that we were wearing the same scarf.

I think they already see you as female.... if you tell them you are transitioning they will think you are going FTM >:-)

I know exactly what you mean cuz we're both in the same position right now. From what I've learned, they all see it and are discussing it. And it's great that you've hit the point where you dress the way you want to dress. For me, the longer it goes, the less self conscious I become. But, the "water cooler whispers" are most definitely going on...enjoy the blur! When they finally hear the truth, it won't be nearly as shocking!

Maybe it's time to change your license  ;)

From what you told I think you will have a good response when you come out at work.

I think I need to start looking into how to do a name change and what the laws are about the gender marker change and if its possible before srs. At the very least the picture needs to be changed. I look nothing like it anymore. I fear I might have some issues trying to get on a plane because of it.

My partner and I work in the same company, and she says that most of the women in my section knew already, long time.

Now my boss and I have agreed that I can dress however I feel comfortable.  So it works out nicely.

It is interesting that almost all the comments reflect what other women in the workplace think about people or what they already know about people on the verge of coming out. No one seems to be bothered about any men in the workplace.

What does that say about us?

;D

We are woman and need to be accepted as woman?

Or that we are not worried about what men think?

I was working as a stevedore when I first started hrt and continued the job for two years. I worked with all guys and they figured it out, but they didn't say anything, no harassment or anything. One guy even discussed a show he saw on tv about transsexuals and in his own way he was telling me he was ok with it and would respect me. But I was not willing to come out fully until after the company closed.  It was noticeable enough that when I went on the ships to supervise loading, often the guy who did the id check would add Mr. to my name after I signed in and he saw my male id, something they did not add for others they signed in. I was ma'amed when we went to lunch too, even while I was dirty and wearing coveralls and an old baseball hat. Overall there were no big issues though so long as I did my job and that's exactly what I was told by the office manager later after the company closed and we had a chat about the potential for getting my name changed with the head company for future references.

So I think they know at work. Today in a meeting my boss meant to say "genome information" but it came out as "gender identity". It was a bit odd.

Yeah.  I was really confused by the OP.

I looked at the pictures first and only afterward started reading.  "What do you mean slipping from boy-mode?"  I thought she was F2M, but now she was backsliding and choosing to dress like a girl again, or something like that.  I don't know.  Sometimes I arrive at the party a little late. :(

But now that I've looked at the avatar, I recognize you!  I still like your boots and socks.  Did you ever get anything nice to go with it?

Not yet, I have an idea in my mind what I want to go with it. I'm going to the mall tonight, if I dont find what I'm seeing in my head, I might need to learn how to sew.

That's what a friend of mine at work thought, and she was super fine with it, said nothing would ever change between us.  THEN, when she found out I was mtf, everything went to hell, and I even had to have HR give her a talk once.  Another friend in a long list bit the dust.
