Hello everyone! =)
I'm 18 and I have been on hormones for 3 months, yes I have seen some little changes with soft skin and chest, but I want to know when the fat will begin to redistribute on my face? 0_o Because it didn't change at all. -_- God, I don't even care for breasts, I have no problem having A cup, but give me some fat on my face!  ;D
So my question was, usually on what month do you REALLY begin to see the changes in your face in relation to fat distribution? (Because I feel desperate, really desperate!)

 Fat distribution will happen over time, provided you maintain a healthy weight. Facial fat distribution seems to take from six months to a year to become apparent, from what I've seen and experienced. Comparing photos of yourself is the best way to see what has changed - a mirror is unreliable for this.

You've just begun. I remember what that delicious impatience was like, but... it's a long road, so feel free to take your time, if you can.

Well the problem is that I can't even take more weight, I'm 171cm and my weight is 55 kg, despite that I tried to eat lots of fatty foods like pizzas and everything else but nothing changed, before my hormonal therapy my weight was 58 kg. But now I eat healthy..at least I try. xD

 I have that problem too.

Two years of hormones doesn't do all that much when you're 5'4" (160cm) and 100lbs (45kg). Maybe I'll be able to gain weight when I get old, but I plan to get into shape... so as far as I can tell, I'm going to be quite slim for a very long time. :3

Now I take fish oil too, in hopes that it will reduce the risk for cardiovascular diseases, diabeties and help my fat distribution. Because I really need it, my face is too skinny, I don't even have cheeks. But oh well, I guess we'll have to wait.

In the face, I noticed a slight bit of firmness in cheeks at around 2 months, but not enough to really feel as though I was getting any at all. After about 8 months, the changes were a bit more noticeable in photos, and the skin definitely looked "fatter". By the 1 year mark, it was obvious that my face had rounded out and was getting more top heavy than bottom. However, at 15 months in, I have noticed the most rapid change happening in the past month or two. The cheek bones are definitely getting more fat underneath them. A couple friends (one of them on this forum, actually), even commented that they've been getting bigger the past couple WEEKS. I've always heard it takes about 2 years to see great changes from facial fat redistribution.

And for the record, I haven't gained any weight since starting HRT.

Same problem here, muscles went away, but fat? nothing added yet to help me much.



The last posts here made me feel better, if it takes about 2 years then I am still safe :P.

Hi Ava,

Being on HRT isn't really a thing of which MONTH something is going to happen, it's totally up to your body to decide, when and where. We have absolutely NO control over that whatsoever.

You can help it along immensely by eating a well balanced diet, drink plenty of water and get plenty of rest. That way the body can do its job the best way it can.

HRT can take anywhere between 3 and 5 years, sometimes more to fully effect the body. A lot depends on the up take of hormones and delivery system used.

took about 10 months before people got really confused.  Body became VERY feminine.

Update: 7 months and 12 days on hrt, still no visible or invisible fat redistribution, same weight, same everything. Oy vey! I guess I'm too much of a loser in the genetic lottery.

I guess that I'll have to wait! Which definetly proves my point, age is nothing when you're transitioning. You can start young like me and get nothing after 7 months, and you can start at 30 and get much much more in less time.

Please don't "wait". Please live your life and enjoy whatever form your body is.

How often do we make ourselves miserable by assuming that something good is coming down the road. The present is too precious to be sacrificed to the future.

That you say you're "desperate" tells me that you're relying on this fat redistribution to do something for you that it may not do.

Oh calm down . Look at it this way, most girls in with grade don't start to change right away and 7 months is really no time at all. After like two years then if you wanna freak just a little then that's ok but now I think you should keep going and know that the changes are conning .

6+ months it starts becoming less subtle and more noticeable. I'm almost 7 months and I'm just now starting to notice a significant difference in my face. Its important to understand that hormones aren't magic instant girl pills.

I noticed changes within two months.

Nothing big. Less fat on my side, moar on my hip. It isn't even equal yet, but it is a change. More in my thighs too which has made things slightly uncomfortable.

I'm trying to lose another 30 pounds. Im sure it will be more pronounced as I lose it.

MaidofOrleans, I understand that it's no magic pills, but compared to the average of the t-girls who start transitioning while having my age (18)or even older, it's truly disappointing.

suzifrommd, I guess that I should just stop waiting and go for the injections instead with Doctor Bensimon, I should now only know how much it will cost to me.

Tristan, waiting for two years is losing my time. I will try to do something about it, now.

Your hair looks great! Have you noticed any thickining or more growth after HRT?

I'm already at 10 months and it's only really starting to get more noticeable in my face. I totally can relate to that feeling of suspense/arg. It'll happen though ;3

I am 8 months on HRT, and 6-8 months I noticed the visible changes in my face. Its subtle but also signficant for me.

Everyone is different, just keep waiting. You can not overnight these changes. You need to be patient no matter if youuse injections of pills. I know we can not discuss dosage amounts, but re you taking a high or low dose? My sublingual dose increased as the last 8 months have gone by, and that worked well for my body.

Swtching to injections is not a bad idea, though my dr. says its a myth that either method provides different results. Girls on susans will tell you differently, and as they are the ones tking these hormones - I would definitely take that into consideraton. However, I tend to trust my drs opinion as she works in a trans clinic and is a dr and all. I will probably try switching to injections after a year or so if my breasts dn't seem to be movng, just to see if thatd help.

be patient, and most importantly be realistic about your expectations surrounding these changes. My body has changed a lot, but if I look at myself with a very bad perspective, I can also feel like nothing has changd at all...the changes are subtle and the same person I was before is still there so its easy to feel like I didnt change sometimes....<1yr on HRT is really too early to measure the kind of changes something like HRT can bring. Or bodies have been steeped in testosterone for years and years...they are being introduced to a new endocrine system and so they respond accordingly, but there is a history of male-ness that they are stepping out of, it takes a while.

PrincessDi, well I didn't notice any visible changes in my face during these seven and whatever months. My body didn't change either. I didn't change at all, people from before my transition see me and don't react differently, because probably for them I didn't change at all. My dosage is higher than the majority of this forum probably takes. In Canada we have no injections either.

And I am realistic, I don't think that it was too idealistic to wait for the fat on the face to accumulate over the 7 months given my age and all the transition videos that I've seen. I'm not waiting to be turned into a bombshell model.

But can it be that I'm sick right from the beginning of my transition and that it influences the effect that hormones have on my body?

Are you on high Spiro at all?

I'm on Androcur..and the dose is okay one =) My testosterone is like at 1.22, in the female norm.
