Does anyone know if getting a bad cut on the face on an area that's been lasered just a week ago cause any problems with the hair growth going away and scarring?

I've got a really bad cut on the face and I've had my face lasered last week on Thursday. I am kinda worried if this would cause interfere with the hair going away and cause scarring.

No won't have any effect just use sunblock and face cream as recommended

And be careful don't slice the face!!!

Well, if you burn THEN cut a face, basic logic says that the resulting scar might be worse than just a cut. But it seriously shouldn't be anything dramatic.

As for being bad for the effects of laser, maybe..? I mean, they told me not to remove dead-fly-like hair residue or seemingly dead hairs myself, to wait for them to fall off on their own. (And I don't have the willpower to really comply to that, most of the time, sadly. :x) Because when you forcefully remove them, you might cause a bit of bleeding or a small wound/irritation which might stimulate the creation of blood vessels and actually end up reviving a dying follicle. So the cut, in the same way, might, very locally, revive a few follicles. But this is a possibility, not a fact, and it shouldn't have any major effect on the final outcome.

I really hope this works - this would have been my 10th laser on my face and 3rd laser that I've taken at the clinic I am going to...

I am sooo sick of being tagged as a guy as soon as people see my face I really hate it.

-rubs my face- Thats why I only use an electric shaver on my face.  Its so easy to get a shaving cut in that area.

After about a year of electrolysis I have like no facial hair left on my lower neck area, or sideburn area.  I cant wait till we hit my mustache hard.  Get rid of that ugly gray.

hmmm... I think it might be a good idea to switch to an electric razor - but what do I need to keep in mind while buying one?

I wet shave, but I discovered by accident that it goes way better if after wetting my face, I put aloe vera gel on before the shaving cream. And then again after shaving. Much less cutting or irritation. And I was using the allow vera because I'd just recently had laser.

As with a lot of things, more expensive = better. Don't be afraid to spend more. My own electric razor was amongst the cheapest, but even though it says to change the blade every 18 months, it's way before 6 months that it's dull. And a replacement blade is nearly half the price of the whole razor. By now I've paid the equivalent of a much better razor.

I would suggest using baby powder on your face and lubrificant (a weird mix of alcohol and "something else" that you spray onto the blade before shaving) on the razor. Without anything, your skin will have sebum and whatnot, and will be somewhat sticky. That will make it harder to shave, and will make you more likely to pinch your skin, as well as increase irritation globally. Baby powder (I suggest corn starch baby powder rather than talc - talc being mineral, I suspect it's harder on the blades) absorbs humidity and makes your skin easier to slide on.

Also, the salesperson from the specialised shop where I bought my razor said that "foil" (if that's how they're called - the cutting area is rectangular) razors shave closer than those that are round (they usually have three blades), but I can't say, personally. I've never compared. I think the round ones have advantages too. Whatever they are. I don't really remember. xD

I've used both foil and rotary (can't stand the idea of my clumsy hands drawing a blade across my skin). My experience is that a foil is closer and uses less power so you get more shaves per charge. The rotary seems to do its work faster, though.

I tried a rotary shaver once, and I might as well have been using a lawnmower. My face nearly divorced me.

I Have an old shaving raser with 3 little circles.  Works great, may of the new ones suck.

When I am lazy I even use it to buff my legs rather than use a razer.

I'm almost 2 weeks in since starting HRT and laser, and I've noticed my shaves lasting twice as long already... My face stays baby butt smooth all throughout the day- whereas before I would get the 5 o'clock shadow by mid afternoon. I still have the grey stuff but I think it's disappearing slowly. The guy doing my laser is also my general medicine doctor, and he is pricey but I think I am going to end up being very happy with the results after a few more sessions. I am expecting to do about 12-15 sessions total based on what he told me, and he said with confidence that electrolysis would not be necessary.

I always wet shave in the shower, and it's the last thing I do in there so the hair is softened up as much as possible and the skin isn't irritated at all. I also started exfoliating at night and lightly before shaving, and it has become increasingly easier to shave in any direction without getting razor burn... Love that!!!!

The first 3 or 4 days after my first laser session it was almost impossible to get a close shave, and I was kind of bummed about it. But after 5 days shaving has become a new experience for me. Cheek and neck hairs started falling out after 7 days during exfoliation, and I can tell that my upper lip and chin are about to follow suit :) Grey lip be gone!

Exfoiliating lightly before shaving is a very good idea!  I also tend to try and exfoliate afterwards because skin tends to clump.  I only have ingrowns on my upper thighs. :D

Haha, yep me too with the ingrowns!!

I have found that baby powder seems to help a little bit with that. I read somewhere that it reduces friction ;)
