Title: Ribs and binding
Post by: Josh on December 15, 2012, 05:02:06 PM
Does anyone else get rib pain (like a bruised rib) after binding with a binder that doesnt even feel tight? My binder binds well but doesnt even actually fit tightly and i dont even think im binding a ton...

That used to happen to me using ace bandages. They never felt that tight but because they didn't breathe properly they bruised me. I got a zip-up lesloveboat binder, and I make sure to pull it down all the way so it rests under my ribs, and I never have a problem. I hope you find something that works for you, mate. What binder do you use?

How many hours a day do you wear your binder?

I bind 14-20 hours a day and nothing happens. When I binded 8-10 hours my rips hurt so much I needed to stop for a while. How ironic. (I know you didn't ask me, but I found this kind of funny.)

Yep.  My ribs hurt.  I can't lie face-down on the floor because my ribs are so mushy.  The tissue in my chest hurts a lot, too.  Sometimes I'll be lounging in my chair not doing a thing and the pain'll start in.  There it goes this very moment.  I haven't done more than rudimentary binding in years.

Ah, that sounds scary!  :o How long have you been binding for?

I used to use an underworks tritop but it doesnt fit anymore so now im using the underworks one thats long but doesnt compress the stomac and its actually a size big but fits bc of my shoulders. I dont kno i prolly bind for 8-10 hrs a day give or take

I had more problems with my underworks once, actually. It didn't fit properly and gave me bad backaches. But I know a lot of people prefer them, so I can't say that's your problem. I have really broad shoulders, and I thought because they were for men they would be okay, but I found my shoulders were still too wide for them, and it did a lot of compressing on my back and ribs.

i bind with a tri top 23 hours and 45 minutes a day and have no trouble my binder doesnt hurt and isnt super tight you might have discomfort because your binder is different and is compressing our rib cage differently then a tri top.

Yes, I use a zip-up loveboat binder. It is definitely the best binder I have owned, and I have used ace bandages, and a binder from underworks. I believe this is partially because I have a chubby belly and it does not constrict me.
